So I just saw this show on the weekend. They had an automatic shotgun it was bad. And they had a gun that you could shoot a grenade to explode at a certain distance using a laser distance finder, I mean you can shoot it at a window and time the thing to explode just after it passes the window. Besides this there was all manner of other awesome weaponry and the host could make bowl of icecream sound epic. This show is the stuff. its good I don't have cable, I'd never get anything done.

its quality, but i could swear that they just rerun the same three episodes
4/9/2007 6:44:46 PM
i cant fucking stand the host.
4/9/2007 6:50:57 PM
i am going to whisper very loudly to make the description of this awesome weapon sound lame!

tonight they will be talking about the LPD 17 Class of Ships (stuff I work with and know a lot of inner info on)Also they will be talking about the electromagnetic rail gun (which the wife works on)we will finally get to see how truthful the show really is

This show sucks. It's made for idiots. Pacing is awful and has a lot of fluff. The program that shows how things are made is the best example of how these shows should be produced. No-nonsense, no-fluff portrayals of the subject. Minimizes pointless interviews with faggots who are just trying to pump up their product.

USS san antonio has had a bunch of problems because of bad design.
4/9/2007 10:01:22 PM
^ no commentTechnically speaking it is considered an amphibious assault ship
4/9/2007 10:05:15 PM
wtf I need to see about that rail gun.
4/9/2007 10:15:43 PM
yeah but the weapons are pretty badass, I just like seeing those things being fired
4/9/2007 10:22:54 PM
I like the weapons they show off, it's good for a gun enthusiast.I'd probably be just as giddy as he is about firing off some of those buggers, shit there's a whole population of people watching the show just beating off about it.
4/9/2007 11:19:11 PM
So I heard from somebody in the armed forces that we shot Iraq or Afganistan ( I forget ) with rail guns in the US using suborbital rounds, I'd guess with guidance. Is this complete nonsense? I mean I can't see any physical reason to dispute it, I just don't understand why we'd do that when we can go shoot em up close and personal with the 117's etc... Thoughts?

I wouldn't say bad design...many of the issues were in the construction...building half the ship in Avondale....then finishing it up in Ingalls. You will always have problems when you do this...especially on a first ship in class design.I think PMS 317 has done a great job in fixing all the issues so far
4/10/2007 7:16:11 AM
^yeah splitting up the work load like that for large objects usually isn't the best of ideas.... gogo government porkbarrelling spending bullshit~!

^He's just way too enthusiastic for me. And he fucking reiterates everything 10 times. The weapon does something cool, yes, but don't spend 15 minutes going into 1 test. You could cover about 10 weapons per show if they just got to the point. However, my friend Win Keller Sr. was on there last week with the battlefield picturetaking heli. His son is a good friend of mine.
4/10/2007 11:13:55 AM
man, so many of my seal buddies would have been so much better as a host of this shot...but they're all lifers, so no big payday for themthe host just annoys the shit out of me...for some reason all i can think of are those ufc douchebags when he talks
4/10/2007 12:08:25 PM

I actually hate the guy, but its a good hate. I don't think the show would be the same without him.
4/10/2007 2:32:34 PM
^^ so how did many of those conversations go??
4/10/2007 6:41:57 PM
heh kind of. Except one time one of our guys screwed up regarding some fiber splice trays. He took them a model that they used to spec their splice cabinets and gave them the wrong model number. They then proceeded to order about 10,000 of the wrong model which took us a few weeks to stock, box up, ship, etc. When they got there, they were too big for the cabinets and we had to RMA all of them. Needless to say they were pissed off. They did reorder parts a few times because they would "disappear" in the warehouse...

wait...are you implying that persons unknown would willingly steal US Navy owned plasma TV's???NEVER You have to keep a sharp eye out
4/10/2007 8:20:57 PM
This show feels like one long commercial to me. i guess its the hype surrounding each weapon. i work around/with experimental vehicals so i guess it looses some of it wow factor. i dunno. [Edited on April 10, 2007 at 8:23 PM. Reason : .]

I don't think they were being stolen, I think the parts were being misplaced in those monster warehouses down there in the gulf and then instead of someone looking for them they just find it easier to place another order.
