You can buy a new one for that. e.g.http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Cobra-Radar-Laser-Detector-XRS9330/sem/rpsm/oid/146063/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

don't even waste your time or money with a detector that cheap. it won't be good enough for you to really rely on it enough to make it a useful tool (either it won't be much help, and you still won't want to speed, or it won't protect you when you do, and you'll get busted).you're gonna need to spend at least double that even to get a good used detector.

I bought a $90 cobra 6 years ago. Saved me from numerous tickets. Only ticket I got with it was when the cop paced me. So....cheap does work.

Not for me. I'm not trusting it to save my ass unless it's good gear. I've used a <$100 detector before, and while it does alert you sometimes, it's not something I'd count on.I run a Valentine 1, but I'm sure that something like a used Passport 8500 would offer good bang for the buck (I'm guessing they're around $200 or so on eBay).

if you spend less than two-fiddy (brand new), you are wasting your money. cheap detectors don't pick-up the newest types of radars. the more expensive, the better the range and the more types of speed devices it can detect.[Edited on April 9, 2007 at 2:50 PM. Reason : noob'd myself]

I agree with theduke866, ive had both the v1 and the passport 8500. the v1 is vastly superior. just save up the money, and buy one of the two on ebay. but i'd try to go with the v1

My $50 Radio Shack is working fine for me. Prob saved me another ticket over Easter break. I drive about 25,000miles a year, and mine have prob saved me from 10+ tickets, and a DUI. GREAT INVESTMENT.

yeah, I have a whistler(can't remember which brand) that detect X, k, ka, laser, and POP. works pretty well with very few false alerts. http://www.radarbusters.com/support/product-tests/2.asp is a pretty good site with reviews.

I will sell you a belltronics x-65 for $150. You just need to get a new cord and suction cups and I would have to find it.

Whistler makes some of the best cheaper end detectors. I remember I got one that has saved me several times back when I was younger and didn't have enough cash for a higher end model.

you may have been lucky so far with a $50 detector, but don't attribute all of your luck to that. I drive about 60 mph+ in the city (25 to 45 mph zones) and 85+ on highways (45 mph and up zones) or on HWY 211, I let my governer take over @ 100 mph, and i'm in a truck, with no radar detector, and I have yet to get a ticket. if you want real protection, and you really think you need a detector cause you are bound to get a ticket, then spend some $texas$ on it. if not, then don't bother wasting any money.
