Does anyone know how to get rid of this?

I know I am retaining water and I can tell I am bloated (and not because of that)

I did a google search and found some information but I don't know what's really relevant.

Basically... I am working out almost an hour and a half a night and I am only drinking water except occasionally on the weekend, I will drink alcohol.

I don't know what to do about this. Grrr...

And don't say 'pee'

haha someone told me last night to put garbage bags all over my skin and run around for 15 minutes.

Apparently that's what wrestlers do...

Hi Ben.

No I've lost close to 15 pounds since mid- Jan beginning of Feb.

And now I can tell I am drinking way more water and I am working out tons more... I just can tell... I know what retaining water and bloating feels like. I am a girl.

put on two layers of sweatpants, a sweatshirt, and a hoodie....go sit in the sauna for as long as you can stand it.

You think it will go away?

It has been around since Sunday afternoon-Monday morning.

i mean if you are seriously worried about retaining water.....don't drink any water, put on thick clothes, run around, jump rope...drink as little water as possible, sit in the sauna like i said.....i mean i'm not saying this is what you SHOULD do if you are trying to lose weight and get in shape, as water helps meet both of those objectives, but strictly speaking about getting the water out then that should work.

i think a healthier alternative would be to change your diet. not sure what you're eating now, but whenever i feel kind of bloated i cut out a lot of meat and try to eat small quantities of fruit and mostly vegetables, plus if you are drinking lots of water you have to bust your ass to sweat it out.

also: if you've been doing the same exercise for a week or two, change it up...if you've been jogging, try biking or the row machine or jump rope or something, your body might be getting used to the workout you're doing so it might not be working as hard.

Yeah it's only like a pound-three pounds difference depending on the time or day but I just feel icky and bloated and this is not the time for that to be happening.

In other news... I am only 8 lbs away from my goal... (weight where I was very early in to college) yay!

Thanks for all the advice guys but I can't stop drinking water since it is all I drink now.

Oh and the legal nurse at my work told me that women can weigh up to 5 lbs more when they are on their period. She is losing weight too-- I had no idea!!

Oh and all the exercise I do is go walking/running in the park for 30-45 minutes and then do the elliptical for 30-1.25 hours depending on the night.

I was going to tell you to install some wick drains or strip drains (maybe some from Mirafi or Nilex) until I read your post and noticed you were talking about something I had no experience with.

This is not retaining water. And you aren't retaining water. Jesus. If you are eating healthy, working out, and haven't had any problems in the past with this, then you don't have a problem now.

RETAINING WATER? Are you kidding? What the fuck does that even mean?

I don't eat much salt....

Then what IS it?

It's not just the pound difference... It's the bloating... I feel like I'm on my period when I'm not on my period.

So please explain that to me.

Do realize that you can eat a ton of salt without realizing it. Most packaged foods have too much salt, so unless you're cooking everything from scratch and not adding any, you're probably getting more than you think.

That may not be your problem, but you never know.

what's your typical diet? Outline your meals because most likely, that's where it's coming from.

try drinking some coffee or a soda with Caffiene, its a cheap diuretic. If you don't want to mess up your all-water diet, try taking some Midol, or an OTC caffiene-free diuretic. They don't take much time to kick in.

drink a beer or two..... it inhibits ADH(anti diuretic hormone)

ADH makes you retain water and avoid dehydration

so go drink a beer and then go pee like a race horse

and go poop too

i knew you guys were gonna say that bc for some reason reading comprehension is hard for people

read my post, i said that's not what i would recommend, nor did i think that was the problem. but hypothetically speaking that would sweat the water out of your body, of course it wouldn't help you lose weight or be healthier. i even told her to drink more water in my post. I mean do you people just pick a line at random to read and then ignore the rest of the post?

and i knew you would say that, and that's why i said what i said.

you basically said:

do XYZ blah blah blah...do XYZ blah blah blah.....i mean, i'm not saying XYZ is what you should do blah blah blah

Quote :
"don't drink any water, put on thick clothes, run around, jump rope...drink as little water as possible, sit in the sauna like i said.....i mean i'm not saying this is what you SHOULD do if you are trying to lose weight and get in shape"

so why bother saying do something, and then in the same sentence saying, no don't do it???

so, you are the one who messed up.

DO THAT!!!

NO DON'T DO THAT!!!

the first part of my post was answering the hypothetical question of how to get water out of your body, which i answered.

the second part was my advice on how to get in better shape, which i assumed was her actual goal.

What is hard about this?
