Anyone here use it? My boss has been a premium member for a while, and I've just recently started to actually contribute to the community, since all he had ever done was ask questions.http://www.experts-exchange.comFavorite sections?[Edited on April 3, 2007 at 11:01 AM. Reason : is/was]

No - I hate it when I google something as well and it always brings up that damn site.

i don't use it regularly, but occasional google results land me there. and like ^, i've seen more negative comments than positive about them, but i have had pretty good experience finding what i'm looking for when i do get them from google

I love the site, use it pretty often.the comments/solutions posted there are of a much higher quality than other tech forums (including this one).

If they would remove the 50 bazillion ads it would be great.

You should post answers. You get all kinds of self gratification from helping folks. lol

I posted there regularly for a few years. Haven't been there in a while, but I have some ridiculous amount of credits on the site.

for the amount that they charge, I'd rather purchase a case of my favorite alcohol and spend a few hours searching for the solution from some other place

^^You can get a premium membership for free. You just need 10k points to qualify, and you have to get 3k a month after that.

it's a pretty damn awesome site for technical answers, which google is still pretty horrible at finding answers to.
4/3/2007 11:32:08 PM
if an experts-exchange link comes up on google, just say you want to see the cached version and scroll all the way down. the cached version seems to show all the answers, instead of the typical register now crap. took me forever to realize that... experts-exchange was a lifesaver at some points during college...
4/4/2007 9:07:26 PM
^ haha, completely agree. I do that cached link stuff quite regularly if I have a problem.
4/4/2007 9:11:19 PM
can you get a free account just for the purpose of answering questions?when you are a premium member, are the 20 pages of ads gone?
4/4/2007 10:00:37 PM
Yeah, you can get an account for free and start answering questions right away. There are ads at first, but once you get premium, they're gone. I'm not sure how many there are, as I've only been a premium member.
