I hope one year instead of throwing the ball up in the airWhoever has the ball at the end turns toward Billy Packer and pegs him in the face at the buzzer

^ HAHAHA

No way, throwing the ball straight up is great.[Edited on April 2, 2007 at 11:35 PM. Reason : But I agree with the florida part]

you know what really should be a technical? fucking greg oden pulling his feet up 9' high on every single dunk. it's just retarded.
4/2/2007 11:50:39 PM
^i second that
4/3/2007 1:37:35 PM
4/3/2007 4:04:43 PM
throwing the ball up in the air makes sense if you have a few seconds left and you dont want the other team to be able to foul you, send you to the line, and then get the ball back. Since the ball is still in bounds the clock still runs, and you can burn 3-4 seconds
4/3/2007 5:15:02 PM
i'm glad they werent calling oden for technicals after his shaqesque dunks because calling technicals for shit like that is gay as fuck]
4/3/2007 5:18:29 PM
doing dunks like that is gay as fuck, if you ask me. if it's a fast break or something where he has some real momentum i understand, but he does it when he starts from right under the basket. it's just stupid.

^I love the twisted rage and disbelief.

it looks like ketchup
4/3/2007 8:06:36 PM
OMG REF CONSPIRACY
4/3/2007 8:11:46 PM
my only point is calling a tech, which can be a game changing call (see bullshit "failure to remove timeout chair/stool from floor in time" in NCSU Maryland ACC tourney game a couple years ago), on just a celebration play is dumbIf you wanna call a tech if a player cusses out a ref, go aheadIf you wanna call a tech if a player fights/hits/punches/etc, go aheadIf you wanna call a tech for defensive 3 seconds, go aheadIf you wanna call a tech for somebody going "Woo hoo!" after making a big dunk, thats about as gay as throwing a 15 yard flag for spiking the football...after a big touchdownBack in the day they'd just let them play

^yeah i happened to see that live...un...fucking...believableand very pertinent to the topicjackleg what do you think about that^ !
4/3/2007 9:53:26 PM
looks like hansbrough bleeds RED
4/3/2007 9:55:21 PM
4/3/2007 9:57:08 PM
you're right...people in general were totally different back then...they were incapable of celebration
4/3/2007 9:59:51 PM
i'm not implying that right off the bat it should be a T, but if i'm the ref in that game, i'm telling oden if he keeps doing it on dunks that he starts from within one foot of the basket, he's getting T'd up.
4/3/2007 10:05:47 PM
but why? if he kicks somebody in the head, T him up...if he hangs on the rim for more than a secon or two, T him up...but just for basically accentuating a dunk? come on cant they have a little fun if theyre not hurting anybody?
4/3/2007 10:07:13 PM
so you're okay with Ts for hanging on the rim for a second or two, but not okay with a warning first, then a T for what he does? how's it any different?and i'm not saying all non standard two handed dunks should be a T, i'm all about a fancy dunk, but what he does is just stupid. and he does it every time, even when the game's already lost.
4/3/2007 10:10:51 PM
hey treetwistado you ever actually consider the other side of the argument or do you always just jump straight to the hyperbole
4/3/2007 10:11:28 PM
If I'm the ref I'm like"Hey Greg, that was cool the first time, but try to something else when you dunk from now on, you unoriginal fuck"
4/3/2007 10:11:43 PM
4/3/2007 10:14:56 PM
nothing is wrong with celebratingthat's why players aren't fined/penalized for celebratingthey are fined and/or penalized for excessive celebration
4/3/2007 10:17:00 PM
4/3/2007 10:17:05 PM
i just dont think big dunks like that are excessive...if so, every single time shaquille o'neal has ever dunked...ever...he would get a technicali just dont see the big deal...i'm like "wow what a powerful dunk" then i'm like "now lets see if they can stop florida"are yall like "wow what a dunk...hey that pulling up is unneccesary...hey ref god dammit call something im offended"now granted during that game during 2 or 3 plays i was like "im kind of surprised they didnt call oden for a technical"...but im glad they didnt...because it was meaningless to the overall game...and therefore not worth calling a technical overi mean if you're down 10 points with 2 seconds left...its not necessarily over...you could get fouled on a 3...and have like 6 technicals against other players...but its just another sense of refs deciding the outcome instead of the players[Edited on April 3, 2007 at 10:21 PM. Reason : .]
4/3/2007 10:18:51 PM
he pulls up way more than shaq does. the thing is he pulls up so high that it's no longer a powerful dunk, or an extention of his dunk. he dunks it, and then does a chin up on the rim. every time. it's completely over the top.and while it's a relatively weak point, as i recall he was close to landing on some guys a few times last night.
4/3/2007 10:25:52 PM
aha nah im just saying if you allow refs to call technicals at will, a three possession game could be a one possession game
4/3/2007 10:28:33 PM
i was talking about how much energy he wastes on the dunks then by the end of the game he barely get up the floor.[Edited on April 3, 2007 at 10:48 PM. Reason : haha spelling like those dudes now]
4/3/2007 10:29:49 PM
^that is a good point but oden impressed me with his stamina last night...played what, like 34-35 minutes?although one foul that i clearly remember ( on an and-1 ) was certainly from fatiguei still think that game came down to who made and missed 3-pointers (even though this thread isnt really about that)
4/3/2007 10:32:45 PM
haha tennessee just did it
