in Iraqi waters...http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1257281,00.html

WWIII?
3/23/2007 9:13:59 AM
Let's see if the British can handle their Pueblo incident any better than we did.
3/23/2007 9:15:47 AM
so it begins...
3/23/2007 9:16:24 AM
3/23/2007 9:21:51 AM
i think you meant:
3/23/2007 9:25:57 AM
3/23/2007 9:27:55 AM
Hmmm, wonder how this'll go down.
3/23/2007 12:45:34 PM
they'll release them and nothing will happen
3/23/2007 12:48:43 PM
you can always trust iranian kidnappers
3/23/2007 12:49:19 PM
^^then what was the point of illegally taking them?
3/23/2007 12:51:08 PM
did you catch that this happened three years ago in pretty much the same place?
3/23/2007 12:52:16 PM
Not in the same place, this time the ship the Brits were on was definitely in Iraqi waters. Last time there was very poor weather conditions so there was some ambiguity on where British boats were, not this time.
3/23/2007 1:30:30 PM
^^^ To show the US/Britain that have the power to capture coalition forces if they want to. Basically it is in retaliation for the arrest of the 5 'diplomats' a few years ago and the disappearance/defection/kidnapping of former and current high ranking revolutionary guard officers in turkey and iraq lately. Besides, Iran warned just last week (maybe early this week) that they were going to start capturing coalition officers. So really this shouldn't surprise anyone.
3/23/2007 1:49:35 PM
^doesnt surprise me that it happened...WOULD suprise me if they get let go with no strings attachedWOULDNT surprise me if another couple beheading videos show up online [Edited on March 23, 2007 at 2:48 PM. Reason : .]
3/23/2007 2:47:36 PM
beheading videos won't show up from this. iran isn't that stupid (i hope).
3/23/2007 2:49:29 PM
^^ you are stupid if you think that.yeah the iranian government is going to behead british soldiers [Edited on March 23, 2007 at 2:50 PM. Reason : ]
3/23/2007 2:49:59 PM
yeah i'm so dumb for thinking iran could potentially behead these guysi mean iran is so peaceful...why would i think they could even be capable of such a thing
3/23/2007 2:51:36 PM
it's just posturingthere's no way a beheading will come from this, it would clearly be on the hands of the iranian gov, not some independent turrist group. they likely won't be harmed in the least.
3/23/2007 2:52:17 PM
Sounds like a job for zombie Lord Nelson.
3/23/2007 2:52:31 PM
i certainly hope they will be ok but if its out of anyone's realm of possibility that iran could pull some shit...well you either have a very short term memory and/or you somehow think a lot more highly of iran's president than you should
3/23/2007 2:55:49 PM
Has the government of Iran beheaded Western POWs before?
3/23/2007 2:57:28 PM
related?
3/23/2007 2:57:32 PM
Most likely what will happen is that the Iranians will parade a few of the British on national television where they'll make apologies for Western Imperialism and insults against Islam or whatnot then release them back to the British. Iran wouldn't be stupid enough to do something serious to the captured soldiers given the sensitive situation they're in with the entire nuclear policy. The last thing they need is to provoke the international community and give the British and Americans a legitimate excuse to take more aggressive actions against them (ie. bombing runs).
3/23/2007 3:02:00 PM
3/23/2007 3:02:33 PM
i say they'll be treated very well....Iran is just trying to send a message, i doubt they want to be dragged into all out war too.[Edited on March 23, 2007 at 3:13 PM. Reason : .]
3/23/2007 3:12:40 PM
as much as i hope everything goes well, if they dont want to be dragged into an all out war, they didnt exactly make a gesture of peace by the kidnappingobviously we're only speculating now and whatever happens remains to be seen
3/23/2007 3:19:27 PM
Trust me, they will release the British soldiers very soon. The Iranian government doesn't need anymore heat right now.
3/23/2007 4:13:04 PM
3/23/2007 4:20:24 PM
yup here is trolltwista again.while everybody in here strongly believes that the soldiers won't even be harmed in the slightest, he says he won't be surprised if they are beheaded.clearly shows an utter lack of understanding of international relations/politics.carry on![Edited on March 23, 2007 at 6:47 PM. Reason : you are 19... you will grow up one day.]
3/23/2007 6:33:42 PM
He's a bit older than 19, I believe. And, TreeTwista10, you gotta stop looking at "different" countries like they're irrational children. Sure, they have their moments like everybody else, but they don't want crazy shit to go down any more than the rest of us.[Edited on March 23, 2007 at 9:00 PM. Reason : any more, not anymore]
3/23/2007 8:59:34 PM
Iran does pose a threat. I worry more, however, about Iran's sponsorship of terrorism and its nuclear ambitions than this type of thing.
3/23/2007 9:51:33 PM
I agree.
3/23/2007 9:55:16 PM
^ Alert the media!
3/23/2007 10:01:51 PM
I have to agree that I don't think they will be harmed. This is more than likely just a stunt for Iran to show off it's "muscle" if you will - an opportunity to show the world that they think they can go around and step on people's toes just like everyone else does. The Iranian government knows full well that if they harmed a single one of those guys that the entire western world would band together to rain down hellfire and brimstone on their asses. They'd be looking at WW3. They may do some dirty dealing behind closed doors, but I don't think they're in a position to be viewed as a full-on terrorist nation.
3/24/2007 4:14:21 AM
when i first saw this i thought.....................iran has a navy
3/24/2007 5:59:24 AM
^AHAHAHAHA
3/24/2007 7:19:09 AM
3/24/2007 8:19:40 AM
im just dumbfounded by their reasoning.....are they really this stupid politically, to kidnap 15 soldiers because they strayed into their waters? I read a quote from an Iranian general that this shows how they are prepared for an attack anytime. Flexing muscle? That doesn't make any sense to do at this point. Do they not understand this severly degrades what little political prowless they have left? Most likely they will release them, because if they don't, they have got to be the dumbest mother fuckers ever.....to give justification to be attacked by the worlds superpowers.
3/24/2007 8:36:56 AM
^So dumb they did it before and nothing happened. Ignoramuses can't help but take this for something more than it really is. I especially like the guy who thinks this will start WW3.
3/24/2007 11:18:33 AM
3/24/2007 11:23:50 AM
Nevermind IranWhat Britain really has to worry about is Snoop Dogghttp://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Music/03/24/snoop.london.ap/index.html
3/24/2007 11:54:30 AM
3/24/2007 9:31:43 PM
Great, here's the show to draw more attention to the problem, then they're going to hand them back and try to demonize us (or the british I guess, I meant western nations in general).
3/24/2007 9:41:01 PM
Iran has been building up its forces for over a decade. Read this article from 1996--Iran is more formidable than one might think:http://www.afa.org/magazine/June1996/0696iran.asp
3/25/2007 3:20:56 AM
Then it's a good thing that Iraq was such a pushover that our troops are totally free to deal with any threat Iran might pose. gg.
3/25/2007 3:38:20 AM
is anything happening here? Is the UK just politely asking to have them back? What is the US's reaction?i've been saying for months that I think the US is basically making up reasons to attack Iran, just like we did to attack Iraq, but now there actually is a legitimate reason to at least send some forces in ad we're sitting silent?
3/25/2007 8:15:14 AM
dont worry, iran can never be a threat as long as they have to worry about iraqoh... wait... shit
3/25/2007 8:55:59 AM
