to play one game against in either sport.impossible to matchup with them in basketball AND football. How did they get to become the exact same equivalent in each sport? They run the wierdest most strange offense and spread out defenses that applies pressure. I find it ironic that the football program mirror images the basketball program.Any other schools like this?

I think it would be ironic if we were all made of iron

^^so you're thinking 3s-princtonish is equivalent to a pass attack? i'm thinking more of a spread offense that runs alot of screens and misdirection/trickery.also the 1-3-1 trap reminds me alot of the 5-3-3 or whatever its called where they put 3 linemen on the field and randomly blitz with dbs and lbs. its a defense almost nobody else uses the way they do and it forces turnovers and takes most teams out of thier game.[Edited on March 22, 2007 at 11:06 PM. Tough to prepare for, yes. Tough to beat? Not nearly as tough as Florida, Ohio State, Texas, USC, etc., who in recent years have been very strong in both sports.

basketball team strikes me a slow it down, back to basics schemefootball team just wants to fly all over the place

This is a joke. Florida is the defending national champ in basketball and football, and has a shot at another NCAA championship in basketball. WVU won the Gator Bowl and has a shot at an NIT championship./thread
3/23/2007 3:11:05 AM
Who said anything about the best athletics program? of course its Florida. That has been done before by espn.
3/23/2007 9:38:24 AM
if west virginia had the most difficult-to-defeat basketball team, they wouldn't be in the NITthis thread is dumb
3/23/2007 10:01:04 AM
also the transitive property of dumbass theories states that since louisville beat west virginia in both basketball and football this year, they are the tougher athetic program
3/23/2007 10:06:50 AM
Time for Ihatespida to come in here and spout some WVU nonsense and bash NCSU while doing it in all caps.

The Mountaineers kick ass in whichever sport they're competing. Bitches.

How is ohio state tough to prepare for. I really don't notice anything completly out of the ordinary they do like wvu does. They are just good. This isn't just about being good.
3/23/2007 2:23:03 PM
Dude you could do this thread for several schools.Look at Air Force, princeton O in basketball, option run in football. Just as tough to prepare for.
3/23/2007 2:31:51 PM
but air force aint good with it. You have your floridas that are just damn good in both, you have your air forces that are abnormal in both but then you have wvu that is the most abnormal and are still really good. ya option is tough but wvus football style is unheard of.west virgnia is the middle combination of the wierd/good--> up and coming really good in both sports. (ya they had a down year in bball but they were sweet 16 elite 8 and theyre winning the nit this down year) Football is probably gonna win it all next year.
3/23/2007 2:36:44 PM
Wake does the exact same things--they run a 3-3-5 in football, and their basketball team plays a lot of 1-3-1 zone.

how come they call them the mountaineers when all of their fans look like the mascot for Oklahoma?[Edited on March 23, 2007 at 7:18 PM. Reason : .]
