word is manning is probably coming.
3/22/2007 8:27:50 PM
word. are any of these players that aren't rated yet, have good chances at being high major players? like army all-americans? top 100 nationally? top 10 in the state?
3/22/2007 8:40:05 PM
Miller Safrit (one of Southeast's best recruiting analysts) says Manning is a STRONG State lean and right now he has him #1 in NC, followed by Coples and Maddox. once all the camps are over this summer, all three have a big chance to be *****. robert blanton also has a chance, but right now he favors ND, Mich, UNC[Edited on March 22, 2007 at 8:50 PM. I hope we can land a few of these top LBs. Most of the ones we have now are seniors so they'll definitely get some PT.

^^awesome. man i just saw the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie ad on the TV. i think i may take my niece to go see it, just so i can watch it and feel like a kid again. i know random, but it was what i was thinking at the time.one thing we can do to help get the top players in the state to commit here is continue to provide an excellent gameday atmosphere. we need to get these chants for visiting players more organized. an unofficial TWW committee should be formed to pass out sheets in sections 7 & 8.V yeah that's a classic.[Edited on March 22, 2007 at 10:04 PM. Manning is a big State lean at the moment, but there's a long way to go. He or Coples will be #1 in NC, and he's definetely one of, if not THE, top LB in the southeast.
3/25/2007 9:41:11 PM
Manning, Coples and Maddox are pretty much all locks for Top 5 in NC. Manning is supposedly a State lean, Maddox was a state lean early but i think its anybody's game, and im not real sure with Coples. Somebody needs to get him to meet Manny and Mario

I'm surprised that no one is really from the northeast so far on the offers. I thought Tom would keep his ties up there for the "worth it" players.and why don't we have an espn game this year? i'm pretty pissed about that. [Edited on March 25, 2007 at 11:16 PM. Reason : .]

It's always good to have former players continue to be around the program, no matter what regime they played under. Their memories at NC State involve more than just their former coaches. There's that one class that had a big impact on them, the campus, all the unique people they met, the roar of the fans and intensity of playing in Carter-Finley Stadium, the parties, the Hillsborough Hike, the football groupies, etc. Besides perhaps one day if they become hall-of-famers and contribute tons of money to the university we might see the Mario Williams Hall for Sports Management, Phillip Rivers Way, or the Manny Lawson Hall dormitory for Engineering Majors.
3/25/2007 11:21:17 PM
well here is the espn schedule. Louisville has a bunch of espn games but we aren't one of themhttp://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2792610

per the herald sun, Tobias Palmer has committed to the Pack. Both Miller Safrit and james henderson have him as the #10 player in NC so far for next year, although they are VERY early rankings. If true, a very good pickuphttp://www.heraldsun.com/sports/18-833267.cfm

will probably be on the higher end of the 3 stars...possibly a 4 star before all is said and done.
3/27/2007 11:34:46 AM
Yeah, they said preliminary lists have him right around #10 in the State...not a bad pickup. I'm guessing cornerback? Possibly slot receiver?
3/27/2007 11:37:59 AM
^projected at corner. he ran a 4.25 40 in the last combine! his coach says he consistently runs a mid-4.2, low 4.3
3/27/2007 11:57:33 AM
throw in marquan brown who ran a 4.19 at one of those shrine bowl combines and we have some serious speed on the way.
3/27/2007 12:01:41 PM
i've met the kid (tobias Palmer) a few times a he seems like a good kid. big, big state fan but his weight is a little low. i know TOB will bulk him up. his speed is legit so i think he will be a great corner.[Edited on March 27, 2007 at 12:04 PM. Reason : clarify between tobias and marquan]

3/27/2007 12:07:05 PM
sounds like a good pickup. His scout.com profile says his hands need work, and we need depth at CB, so I'm assuming he's coming here to play CB. Who knows though.
3/27/2007 12:09:40 PM
Handwork can be taught. Speed can't (unless a person just has a messed up running style). Catching the ball, and tucking it right away, breaking away from a defender, etc. can all be taught. His speed and size remind me of A.J. Davis, who had a very productive career here at CB.Pack Pride is also reporting that a WR by the name of Javon Rembert out of Independence High School likes NC State and is hoping for a Wolfpack offer. Independence is that school out of Charlotte that has the insane consecutive winning record, wins the state championship all the time, and produced Florida QB Chris Leak.
3/27/2007 12:14:33 PM
oh god dont say he's the next AJ Davis. AJ had like 3 GREAT games but he was a big play waiting to happen (for the other team obviously). Hell, he single handedly lost the BC game for us 2 years ago. Overrated as hell.[Edited on March 27, 2007 at 12:30 PM. Reason : ]
3/27/2007 12:30:27 PM
Who was A.J. covering during that B.C. game? I can't remember, even though I was at that game up in Chestnut Hill. If it was Blackmon, who I remember had a good game against us, then I can understand if he had problems covering him (nearly everyone in the conference did).
3/27/2007 12:35:53 PM
AJ got burned a lot, not just by blackmon. He watched the quarterback and let his man get behind him a lot and gave up a bunch of big plays. It wasnt that he couldnt keep up with receivers, its that he played the quarterback, not the man, which is fucking stupid when you have a great D-line in front of you.
3/27/2007 12:38:14 PM
4.25 40 Great first pickup!
3/27/2007 12:59:40 PM
speed kills
3/27/2007 7:16:11 PM
I know we lead for LB Duane Maddox, but for those that know more about him, tell me what's up with him. Stats, intangibles, is he a good student, etc. We need character guys, and I'm positive that TOB will bring in those types of players.
3/29/2007 1:08:22 PM
jesus with 4.25 speed i'd almost feel like we were wasting it at CB. he'll obviously never get beat deep though. with our depth at WR, CB is probably the best place for him though, and our secondary could surely use the help.
3/29/2007 2:12:22 PM
^His height (5'10", IIRC) is also a consideration.
3/29/2007 3:09:28 PM
you guys know that 4.25 40 is not really accurate, right? Don't get your hopes up, I doubt he really run 4.25 40, that number might be closer to 4.4, which is still pretty damn fast.
3/29/2007 3:19:41 PM
I heard 4.3 is legit...hadn't heard 4.25..

One of the nation's top linebackers, Christian Wilson, visited State recently according to PP.http://tinyurl.com/26m5whhttp://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=2842444We've got a lot of good company in terms of teams that are recruiting him. Here's all the schools that have offered him a scholarship according to scout.com:AuburnClemsonMichiganOhio StatePenn StatePittsburghVirginia Tech
4/2/2007 2:29:46 PM
^likely have no chance at him. Still haven't cracked his top 3 after the visit, and he said the visit was "nice" which is pretty much recruit speak for "thanks, but no thanks"
4/2/2007 2:33:59 PM
^^ That was the star running back from montour that was on that espn show with butkus as a coach for a year
4/2/2007 2:44:25 PM
no chance in hell that guy comes here. ohio state, penn st or pitt.
4/2/2007 3:00:31 PM
^ that guy's top 3 are florida, ohio state and michigan. forget penn state or pitt.
4/2/2007 3:06:41 PM
If there's no chance, why would he visit? Isn't he limited to the # of official visits he can make? Doesn't make much sense that he would burn one of his trips to a school he has no interest in.Maybe he's looking to start as a freshman.
4/2/2007 3:09:37 PM
^ He probably is already familiar with most of the schools and the OV isn't really necessary. Some recruits take their OVs to schools they don't know much about, not necessarily their "top" picks.
4/2/2007 4:35:53 PM
^^ this visit was unofficial.
