So i have a friend (lets say her name is Jane Doe) and she has a fiance (John Doe). They cosigned for John's brand new Jeep Wrangler. They are now on the verge of breaking up because he's been cheating on her and now she is stuck in the middle because she cosigned the car with her she doesnt want her credit going to shit. is there anything that she can do to get herself out of this?

read every line of the contract, look for loopholescall the people who did it, etc, call a lawyer

she should write "I AM A DUMB CUNT" on a napkin and sign it

btw, my personal opinion is that1. shes stupid for cosigning for him before theyre married2. shes stupid for marrying someone whos credit is so bad they cant buy a car on their own

I replied in the other thread but just in case:I think this exact topic has been addressed on any number of 'Judge' shows."Jane" needs to first, ask "John" if he will release her, I'm not sure it is allowed but she needs to at least make an effort to ask... if he says no, then I'd say she has probable cause to seek some sort of judgement against him because while it is 'anticipatory' that he will not pay, it's somewhat reasonable to assume he won't considering he won't let her out of the contract(seriously, go to judge judy or judge joe brown or the People's Court website because they might have advice for this specifically)

^^ I don't think you can just get released from the note. They need that second person there with good credit in case the person with shitty credit defaults. That's the only reason he got the vehicle in the first place.

Call a lawyer, but that was a dumb move in the first place... lesson learned, hopefully

It isn't even advisable for married people to own a car jointly.Even more so, you don't even include them as a driver to your car for insurance purposes.

Why would it not be advisable to own a car jointly with a spouse?

Why would the bank release her from the obligation? It required a co-signer because presumably the guy couldn't afford the Jeep by himself. The bank has no incentive to let her off the hook unless the guy's financial circumstances have changed.

More so for liability reasons. If the spouse was at fault for a bad accident or something or other extreme circumstances it would not be able to cross over to you.

Why doesn't he sign it over to her and she sells or trades it in?

haha dumb whore

^^ because they got the car under her name and they got the loan with his income and her credit. so he's been paying for the car (as far as i know).
