I live outside of Dallas for a year, just North of the airport. My first summer there, I didnt know anyone so i just went to watch movies at Grapevine Mills about 2 nights a week. The rest of the time I was working at Walgreens.

As far as shit to do, theres always the touristy shit worth seeing if youre going to be there, maybe take the family to or something. You can try to catch a ranger game or something, and you can visit the Fort Worth stockyards, and theres always trip down to Austin. High school football was always really big down there, so if you find a local school and can get into it, I think falling into the high school football thing would be an inexpensive hobby, thought I dont know how easy it would be to give a rats ass without having a son or daughter at the school.

There's this one restaurant in Dallas called the cosmic cafe. I always really liked that place... a lot. Its vegetarian, but it's worth checking out if you like non-traditional food. The Angelika theater in Dallas, near SMU I think was the place I saw a bunch of movies after I figured out where it was. It's in this business complex area thats got a ton of little bars/bistro places, more the trendy bar kind of thing, not just a watering hole. Golf is always an option if you got the money. It's kindof expensive in that area, but there are a bunch of courses out around Grapevine.

Truth be told, I was still in high school back then, so I didnt get around much. I cant make a lot of bar suggestions or anything, but the bar scene isnt my thing anyway. Just talk to people there. They might know more than I would.

I lived north of downtown about 5 minutes up 75, that was a pretty good area with a lot of young people.

Dallas has a lot of Mexicans, but money usually gets you away from them if you know where to live. Most white people live north and west of town, which creates quite the commute if you work downtown. But there are a ton of corporate HQ's right north of town - so if you are working there, it might be good to live in richardson or plano - best neighborhoods are up there.

There are some very nice and snazzy bars around downtown and just north in Highland Park - SCANDALOUS ass there - but bring $texas

Dallas just plain sucks -- it's hot as hell, the sprawl is just unbelievable, and there's nothing fun to do (unless you think malls and strip clubs are the optimum forms of entertainment). Think Raleigh with more heat, many times more people, tons more traffic, but the same amount of stuff to do. The only bearable place in TX is Austin. Dallas is right up there with Buffalo on the list of American cities to avoid.

If you like music - check out some texas country artists in concert. Theres always concerts at Billy Bobs in Fort Worth. Texas country is country/southernrock/a lot of rock n roll. Nothing like nashville or pop country. Bands like Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jason Boland, Reckless Kelly, Randy Rogers are all awesome in concert. even if you don't like country.. check em out. they put on good shows and have huge followings. good way to meet people.

I've been to the Dallas zoo, dallas stadium, downtown
its not the greatest city..

I"ll be there in a few weeks for the race

Listen dude.

There is gonna be some of the most premium ass there you could ever imagine.

The girls are tall as hell. And by tall i mean like 6'0 crazy shit.

They are also smoking hot, did i mention that?

Go to a mall and your jaw will drop at the HS girls who look like the kind of girls you see on the fucking Spanish channel.

The only problem with Dallas is these bitches are BAD. Like way too bad to give you the time of day.

It's basically look but don't touch unless you're rich, tall, and really good looking.

i am in the FW area, been here 2 months(was in hotel for around 6 months). Lucky for me, I was in NY when it is 100+ here(5 seasons, fall winter, spring, summer, hell).

Completely unrelated to thread, but at my work jeans and polo shirt are fine and casual(ha) day is Friday and on the weekends if we work it.....I hope like hell I never have to wear a suite again(unless at a wedding or funeral).

^x4 exactly what that guy said. The women there are ridiculous. I spent half a day there and everyone working at the airport, from food court workers to the bitches wearing Christian Dior were gorgeous. If you are the shopping type, Highland Park is definitely the place.

was there a few weeks ago for a conference, things I enjoyed:

- Lower Greenvile Ave area (college crowd, some fun bars, a few good restaurants)
- West End area (more good restaurants than anything else, shopping has pretty much died there)
- Gillies > restaurant famous for mechanical bull in Urban Cowboy, always fun after a few beers
- Gypsy Tea Room > great place for live music!
- Coyote Ugly > didn't go, but I heard it's not bad in Dallas (as opposed to the Atlanta & Vegas versions I've been to)

Good luck!

I lived in Fort Worth for awhile, and it was pretty much depressing. Super Size Me says it's the fattest city in the country, and I believe it.

apparently im going back soon, and rallydurham is RIGHT ON THE FUCKING MONEY.

Keys to getting laid: single, not balding, not a complete fucking hillbilly, act like you have a little money and have no kids you are paying alimony on.

I'm convinced it doesn't matter a damn bit if you actually HAVE money as long as you act like it, or what you look like at all (because somehow I got mines and lord knows I'm an ugly sonofabitch)
