wow.happy to see shaub finally get some run though, now hopefully they can manage to manufacture some sort of protection for him
3/21/2007 1:46:48 PM
^thats the main concern&^^ the Texans have a long history of mismanagment to catch up on if they ever want to be as bad as the raiders
3/21/2007 1:49:45 PM
this will prove to be a good move
3/21/2007 1:50:16 PM
3/21/2007 1:51:46 PM
he doesnt know what he's talking about there either
3/21/2007 1:53:49 PM
Well considering there is nothing wrong our out of line with that statement, I don't see what your point was. All the evidence you need is from the game this past season when Young played in Houston. Did you see how alive and energized the Texan fans were rooting for a player on ANOTHER team. Thats how every game would have been for the Texans if they had drafted Young and not signed Carr.
3/21/2007 1:55:31 PM
great move! I love matt schaub and wish him the best. I think he'll habe PT in no time. It would be in the Texans best interest. This guy was the Philip Rivers of UVA.
3/21/2007 1:55:49 PM
3/21/2007 1:57:34 PM
^^^ and that isn't even the point I thought you were trying to make. They passed on Young and told their fans who wanted him that Carr was their QB of the future. Now, less than one year later, they seemingly realized their talent evaluation of Carr was clearly wrong. Completely inept. They made a complete 180 on Carr and alienated a large chunk of their fanbase at the same time. Whether or not picking Mario was the right move or not you simply CAN NOT ARGUE that the fanbase was accepting of it.. admitting Carr isn't the answer is just a slap in the face to their fans..[Edited on March 21, 2007 at 1:59 PM. ^^Thats basically what I was trying to say.Being from Atlanta, and having watched Schaub the few times he has played, I really wish he had gone to a better team.[Edited on March 21, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Reason : ,]
3/21/2007 1:58:43 PM
Apparently the Falcons are going to receive the Texans' 2007 and 2008 second-round picks, are they're going to swap 2007 first-round picks (Falcons moving from 10th to 8th).
3/21/2007 2:08:03 PM
Wow, the Falcons def got a lot in return for him.
3/21/2007 2:08:45 PM
^they should've, he's a better nfl QB than vick.
3/21/2007 2:09:52 PM
Carr is pretty good though.
3/21/2007 2:11:29 PM
Yeah, I know, cause Schaub has played in SO many games, has won more playoff games, and has better stats than Vick. You are exactly right. He is a better NFL QB.
3/21/2007 2:12:21 PM
Carr to the Panthers perhaps?
3/21/2007 2:14:28 PM
At least Schaub will get to play, even if he's getting sacked every 3rd play.
3/21/2007 2:15:06 PM
^^^I know I would rather have Schaub than Vick.....most would probably agree. When he came in while vick was hurt ATL fans were begging to keep him as the starter.
3/21/2007 2:20:49 PM
Yep, except we weren't. Petrino is gonna have him back playing as good as, if not better than he was a few years ago. Either way, Vick sells out games, Schaub doesn't. Neither did Carr.[Edited on March 21, 2007 at 2:26 PM. Reason : .]
3/21/2007 2:26:12 PM
Carr really was not that bad of a QB last year. I may be wrong, but I thought he led the NFL in completion percentage. Granted his line sometimes doesn't give him time to throw down field so his high completion % may be due to throwing underneath all the time.Anyway maybe Schaub will do better than Carr in Texas, but I'd be surprised. Also where does it mention that Carr was released?? I doubt they'd just up and let him go without seeing what Schaub can do. Maybe you're just predicting the future?[Edited on March 21, 2007 at 2:26 PM. Reason : df]
3/21/2007 2:26:24 PM
Ok, I miss spoke, not released, but they have pretty much given up on him apparently.
3/21/2007 2:27:36 PM
3/21/2007 2:29:21 PM
I hate playing him, don't get me wrong...but we're one of the only teams he is consistent against.Vick is a better running QB, but Schaub is just a better QB
3/21/2007 2:32:12 PM
And you can tell that by watching him play in a total of THREE games over 3 years? Fucking amazing. NFL teams should be calling you nonstop for advice
3/21/2007 2:43:52 PM
David Carr would be an improvement over Jake Delhomme.Carr has NEVER had an offensive line and still put up good numbers and is still fairly young.
3/21/2007 2:43:54 PM
^^Yes, it's pretty obvious.
3/21/2007 2:50:21 PM
Why would the falcons pay Schaub that much money to be a back-up QB? It was to prevent other teams from poaching him because they could see that the kid is talented.Simply playing defense from talent hoarding perspective. Petrino, as a new coach, seems to think he has gaps to fill. Thus he convinces them to trade since he would fetch a high price and the Falcons are now able get more players that they would need.Quit bitching about Vick vs. Schaub, this goes a lot deeper than that.
3/21/2007 2:53:21 PM
i heard ron mexico got herpes
3/21/2007 2:56:18 PM
^^^^^that, college, and the fact that after 7 (?) seasons in the nfl Vick is still as inept at throwing the ball as he was his first game. Schaub isn't as athletic, or flashy, but he will turn out to be the better QB.[Edited on March 21, 2007 at 2:56 PM. Reason : ^]
3/21/2007 2:56:29 PM
^^^ Well, Petrino has pretty much stated this will be Michael Vick's team. By getting rid of Schaub, he's reinforcing that. So what we're going to see is an offensive line built for Vick, better regard for blocking receivers and tight ends that can still catch, little regard for runningbacks, and Vick has no excuses left if he cannot do anything with the Falcons with Petrino as coach. So in two years, Michael Vick will be a hero or a zero. And we'll no longer have this "half of the fans think he's awesome, and half thinks he's beyond overrated".[Edited on March 21, 2007 at 3:05 PM. Reason : .]
3/21/2007 3:05:05 PM
similar things were said when mora took over.
3/21/2007 3:21:14 PM
1) The Falcons went 13-3 the first year under Mora and made it to the NFC Championship2) Mora put Vick in the West Coast offense which was beyond stupid.3) The Falcons struggles the past two years have been because of their inept defense. It's a testament to Vick's strong play that they hovered at .500 despite their defensive woes.Personally, I dont love the move to get rid of Schaub. Having a good backup QB is a nice luxury, particularly when your QB is mobile and injury prone. However, Atlanta needs some serious upgrades at multiple positions and it looks like they got quite a bit for Schaub. If i was a Houston fan I'd be PISSED right now. Usually teams don't admit this quickly that they screwed up. The Mario Williams pick and the Carr long term deal are disastrous now.

3/21/2007 3:42:47 PM
^ haha are you serious? They are a RUSHING offense. I bet the Falcons high rank in rushing yards had nothing to do with the fact Vick rushed for 1,000 of them himself I've butchered you guys in this Vick shit for three straight seasons. There is nothing wrong with RUNNING the ball.PS. Warrick Dunn wasn't very productive last year.
3/21/2007 3:47:17 PM
schaub is a going to be a star. he put up comparable numbers to rivers'. he's an accurate and heady qb with a good arm strength. i'm glad he's finally getting his shot.
3/21/2007 3:47:24 PM
Nobody ever has an answer when I ask them to show me in the defenition of a QB where it even mentions "passing"I am too. He was wasting away just sitting on the bench holding a clipboard.[Edited on March 21, 2007 at 3:48 PM. Reason : .]

Team sports make arguing anything easy:Falcons win: Vick led them to victory!Falcons lose: Vick can't win games by himself!
3/21/2007 3:52:58 PM
Vick is 15-0 when he ties his right shoe in a double knot
3/21/2007 3:54:32 PM
^^hey, we agree on something (i think).[Edited on March 21, 2007 at 3:54 PM. Reason : ^]

^Falcons win: Alge Crumpler catches a diving pass that is way over his head.
3/21/2007 3:54:57 PM
man, if vick's receivers would catch the fucking ball, then maybe idiots won't keep thinking vick is a garbage qb.
3/21/2007 3:55:59 PM
3/21/2007 3:57:12 PM
This thread really isn't supposed to be about Vick. Its supposed to be about how shitty of an organization the Texans is.
3/21/2007 3:58:47 PM
?? I sorta agree, but this is a good move, right? I think its more about how they are improving.
3/21/2007 4:00:55 PM
man, if vick's receivers could get a catchable pass from vick, then maybe idiots won't keep thinking vick is a garbage qb.
3/21/2007 4:01:42 PM
^^No, if anything, it makes them look worse. It is a move in the right direction, but it also shows that they are admitting that they totally fucked up by passing on Young for a QB they apparently didn't have as much confidence in as they thought they did.[Edited on March 21, 2007 at 4:03 PM.
