I am an nc state student and i started a website, http://www.wolffood.com that contains local dining and entertainment options. It is free to use and I hope to make it reliable, central location for my fellow students to find the best pizza deal, wing deals, nicer dining options, drink specials, etc. I am looking for suggestions (advice@wolffood.com) and other students who would like to work with me to expand this fledgling site. Check out the site, use it, and let me know what suggestions you have.

you know what needs to launcha fucking ad
3/19/2007 9:26:01 PM
what the crap? didn't this happen like a week ago?
3/19/2007 9:27:52 PM
yea its a couple weeks old but it hasn't caught on too well yet... trying to see if other students like the idea
3/19/2007 9:29:52 PM
The interface and graphics suck ass.Otherwise, not a bad idea. Might want to link in something like restaurant.com specials for applicable places and the coupons found in those wolf save magazines or whatever it's called around campus (they are posted on the web too, I think).
3/19/2007 9:32:38 PM
you know what students like?websites that don't look like my 10 year old brother made it
3/19/2007 9:32:58 PM
^ yup.
3/19/2007 9:33:57 PM
i don't see how a website with a poor layout is going to compete with word of mouth in regards to food specials.
3/19/2007 9:36:15 PM
yeah use your student status and go use something other than MS paint to design the picturesnot being rude, just honestit will help your site
3/19/2007 9:42:00 PM
and add some porn pop ups
3/19/2007 9:42:32 PM
E115 project? Good idea, brutal site
3/19/2007 9:43:04 PM
in the "delivery" section it lists TWO RESTAURANTS. i could probably rattle off 20 off the top of my head.
3/19/2007 9:43:22 PM
dear sweet lord that's awful
3/19/2007 9:56:46 PM
this might be one of the worst websites out there
3/19/2007 10:03:35 PM
I believe the idea is good but obviously the layout, graphics, ect. are pretty bad. i understand that and i need to hire some help. anyone have web designing skills? send your email and a price that you would create a site for to advice@wolffood.com
3/19/2007 10:22:55 PM
First off i applaud your entrepreneurship...keep improving/updating/promoting the site (though you really do need to buy an ad). Packages start at $10 so its not that much $$. http://brentroad.com/ad.aspxAs mentioned before you really do need some design help; that site doesn't look very good. i feel like even some basic template would help. you could probably pay someone $100-$200 to turn out something tons better than what you have currently.and why did you pick wolffood.com? it doesn't really stick out...first (and second) time i saw the address i kept trying to make it one word (but maybe thats because i'm thinking of the college Wofford). why not use ncstatefood.com or ncsufood.com...or better yet, think of a better domain name thats more imaginative and don't use the word food in the title...you need something clever as the brits would say. gl to ya.[Edited on March 19, 2007 at 10:47 PM. I'm glad someone made a site like this and I am always looking for specials on food and drinks. However, it looks more like a project done in CSC200 than a professional website. Spend the $$ on making it look better and it will probably be a success.

http://woolfood.com/ just rip off that site, actually just tell people that is the site, it only has 2 less restaurants for delivery
3/20/2007 12:08:45 AM

sadlack's is the shit
3/20/2007 2:45:09 AM
a good idea but make your page look better. It could be worse at least it's not as bad as the NC STATE STUDENT ticket page.
3/20/2007 3:29:33 AM
instead of bashing the man about how terrible the web site look how about offering advice and keep your stupid opinions to yourselves?
3/20/2007 9:43:31 AM
a.) Different background color, maybe even a picb.) The blocky letters need to go....c.) Instead of GIANT pics of all the specials right on the first page how about you break it up by an alphabetical list of each location, that you can click on to see the special...It's a start
3/20/2007 10:55:59 AM
instead of bashing the people who are bashing the man about how terrible the web site lookhow about offering advice and keep your stupid opinions to yourself

2 delivery restuarants one of which I believe is closedif it was easier to navigate I would definitely bookmark itgreat idea, poor design
3/20/2007 11:46:23 AM
Wow I haven't seen something that looked that bad since browsing NCSU's hottest girls page.1) Change your domain name. The double f is bad. The domain was only $7, take it as a sunk cost. ncsufood.com or something similar would work, just something to remove the double letter.2) If you are really that bad at designing a webpage a) Pay someone to make one. I'm sure some design student would do it for a decent price ($20/hour? = $200-500 for a decent looking simple page that you'd be able to edit and update) b) Use a frontpage template. I hate hate WYSIWYG editors and their templates and didn't think I would ever suggest one but that site looks terrible. I would never use it based on interface/layout alone and a frontpage page would be an improvement.3) I see a problem in that once a person visits the page once or twice, there is no reason to come back again. The page would only be useful to people who are new to the area and only useful for a couple visits. You should make sure to include small places that even locals wouldn't know about and maybe forums for discussion of restraunts to create a returning user base.4) Good luck, always like to see people trying to start something new
3/20/2007 12:47:37 PM
just copyhttp://www.zspotlight.com/
3/20/2007 12:54:16 PM
Not a bad idea. I'd say add more options, have online coupons available, proofread, and let people add comments or suggestions. If you think people are being brutal here, look what they said about http://www.NCSULiving.com when it came out: http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=378627But it's going pretty good now. It took a lot of fixing up and changing, but if you keep with it, I think it's a good idea.
3/20/2007 12:54:20 PM
NCSULiving is still ugly as hell.
3/20/2007 1:45:02 PM
Great idea. Having all the 'word of mouth' advice in one place should be great.Kinda like TWW. Without the asshats.
3/20/2007 1:55:53 PM
Advice: start completely over, and hire someone competent to do it for youjust for you gunzz

A few things I noticed in a brief viewing:1) TYPOS GALORE! (Please edit your work. Some of the mistakes were obvious typos, others were words spelled incorrectly.)2) Some of your images are very difficult to read. 3) The site is VERY repetitive. (Also, does Raleigh Joe's even exist anymore????)4) You put too much emphasis on your "Options." This doesn't need to be the most easily viewed part of the site. You need to decrease the size of those options so that the eye focuses on your site content. Also, I was viewing on a reasonably sized screen and I was continually having to scroll over because your site was so "wide" (not sure of a technical way of expressing this).5) You need more info! There are SO many more places out there! Plus, just posting what places advertise isn't any good. The only way you're going to get people to come to your site is if you post the things that aren't widely known. Examples:A. Zaxby's Student Discount (I'm not sure what the logistics are, but I know it's something)B. Hardee's Student Discount (free small drink & fries with the purchase of a thickburger)C. Burger King's Student Discount (I'm pretty sure it's a percentage off...)D. Subway's Sub of the Day E. When can you get a $1 scoop of icecream at Baskin Robbins on Hillsborough St.?F. Comparative prices between Silvia's and I <3 NY Pizza deals. G. Flying Saucer $2.50 night & other specials.H. Ruckus Pizza's lunch & drink specials.I. WHERE ARE THE CHINESE RESTAURANTS!?!?!?!?!?!J. GUMBYS? (yes, they aren't great... but they're definitely an integral part of dorm & NCSU food)K. Any other restaurants on Hillsborough, Western, Avent Ferry, or downtown that are good or different.L. Sushi nights? Stuff like that-- that's what people want to know!A ratings system might be a good idea. Just because something is cheap or has a deal doesn't mean that it's good! Making a ratings system, or allowing people to interact with your site and leave their experiences, would be awesome. (Kind of like an NCSU citysearch)That's all I can think of at the moment... nice beginning, but you still have a lot of work ahead. Definitely get some more creative text & color! 3/21/2007 1:43:35 AM
raleigh joes is not closed, it is open.so at least stop bashing him for that.
3/21/2007 4:37:43 AM
i dunno if anyones suggested this yet but you should also buy out the name "www.wolfood.com" just incase some people forget its 2 'f's when they see it advertised or word of mouth etc.
3/21/2007 4:50:48 AM
jesus, it feels like 1997 again - like anyone with Frontpage installed on their computer thinks they can start a web business.....echoing what other's have said - just scrap what you have, and start over. The least you can/should do is install Wordpress and get a decent looking theme. That will take you all of 30 minutes to do and will leave you with a decent looking (if not generic), functional, and editable site. If you plan to make this a business, though, you need to get a real CMS and put some real design work into it. I would take this site completely off the internet right and put in a place holder until you get a redesign done.
3/21/2007 9:13:25 AM
haha...i remember 518...relatively good place to eat
