http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/s4wastegate.htmI'm having boost creep on my 88 Rx-7 due to the weaksauce 16mm stock wastegate. The previous owner did some porting, but apparently it's not enough because I'm hitting 14psi with no boost controller. I can pull the thing off pretty easily. Is there a local machine shop (or even someone really knowledgeable on this forum) who could do this for me? It will also need a new flapper welded on there. I have no desire to attempt this myself.

r.p.m. or fastlane.i'm sure hamilton machine could do it also, but you would need to carry just the turbo to them and have explicit instructions.you might give the mazda specialist place on hillsborough a call also, but i know absoultely nothing about what kind of work they do.[Edited on March 19, 2007 at 7:07 PM. Have you called McNair performance on Westgate Rd? Google them.

mcNair is across the st from us.they are good people. they work on tons of RX7s

I know what hes talking about, but the thread title sounds strangely homoerotic

not surprising considering some of his chit chat threads.

probably going to get RPM to do it. now I gotta pull the turbo... hooray for 20 year old studs. good thing I picked up some replacements from http://www.atpturbo.com

i ported the intake on my mustang. gained about 4 hp. how hard can a waste gate be
3/22/2007 12:37:47 AM
are two wastegate passages on the 89 turbo I have so there's more to fuck up, plus you gotta weld two new flappers on therejust got the turbo out actually... bed time in a few[Edited on March 24, 2007 at 1:14 AM. Reason : .]

its was the stock intake so i wasnt expectin much. now i have an rpm2
3/24/2007 7:13:14 PM
hahaha dude... 4hp isn't a gain... you can't prove that... hell humidity and air temp can give you 5-7there was an rx7 specialist way the hell up on capital past 540 somewhere

^ Jerry Strickland--who no longer does Rx-7's full time. Who do you think screwed up what's his name's Silver FD a while back? The guy who sold it to another student here? I forgot his name on here. I just dropped the turbo off at RPM about two hours ago.

^Azaka?

That's it.he fucked that up--which is understandable for most people, but not for an Rx-7 shop. The primary turbo was only hitting wastegate pressure iirc (7psi).Good thing the guy who bought it ripped all that shit out and put in a GT35R.[Edited on March 26, 2007 at 6:09 PM. Reason : .]

i figured they could do it if anyone could.btw, that is some AWESOME customer service right there. that's far from a big money making job, and he definitely spent alot of time and energy doing that. i can tell you from experience porting stuff is a pita. grinding down welds is even worse.not the prettiest of welds on the flap, but they look strong enough to do the job just fine.

if thats all you were getting done, i woulda bought a dremel/air grinder and tried it my self since theres no water around there(as far as i know).

^ i thought about it, but it wasn't worth it. A small port job for a mildly modded car wouldn't be a big deal (previous owner had already started porting it as you can see), but if i mess up something this aggressive the turbo housing could crack. I don't have the tools or ability to weld on a new wastegate flapper like he did either. The stock one already was sealing poorly.[Edited on April 1, 2007 at 12:36 PM. Reason : .]
