and nc state, clemson and florida state
3/18/2007 1:41:59 PM
i was worried about the acc would fare as a whole from the get-golooks like my suspicions have been affirmed don't forget virginia tech though!!1
3/18/2007 1:42:41 PM
The ACC is still easily the best conference top to bottom. The problem has been the ability of those teams at the top to step up and consistently play like a high-level team.
3/18/2007 1:44:28 PM
The ACC really blew it this year. 7 seeds and they're all gone just about. What the hell has happened?
3/18/2007 1:46:02 PM
^^^ yeah i hate em, but i have them in the elite 8[Edited on March 18, 2007 at 1:49 PM. Reason : .]
3/18/2007 1:46:05 PM
PackBacker, we're not in it. That's why
3/18/2007 1:47:39 PM
the ACC got over-ranked for a mediocre season as a wholewhen the ACC is up we get shitty seeds[Edited on March 18, 2007 at 1:49 PM. Reason : not that we don't deserve high rankings, but in the past we've bitched about low rankings]
3/18/2007 1:47:55 PM
We have more alive in the NIT (3) than we do in the NCAAs (2)
3/18/2007 1:50:13 PM
The ACC is undefeated in the NIT's aren't they? The ACC is the best 'mediocre' conference in the nation. We have a lot of really good middle-tier teams that can beat anyone. Problem is, unlike years past, we don't have 2-3 elite teams. UNC is the only team that fits that bill and the verdict is still out on them due to thier streakiness
3/18/2007 1:51:39 PM
you are a damn fool if you dont think that year in and year out the ACC is the best bball conference. Other conferences might peak here and there but overall ACC is tops
3/18/2007 1:56:08 PM
3/18/2007 1:57:36 PM
^
3/18/2007 1:58:29 PM
^^^As far as overall average, yesThat said, since expansion the ACC hasn't been that great. I guess the recent demise of Duke and Maryland haven't helped, but not so many years ago it wasn't odd for the ACC to have 2-3 teams in the Elite 8 every year. We're far from that now[Edited on March 18, 2007 at 1:58 PM. Reason : ]
3/18/2007 1:58:45 PM
^ is that a result of the acc, or a result of the overall parity in college basketball? hmmm.
3/18/2007 2:01:48 PM
The ACC is the best conference this year, but instead of having 2-3 elite teams it had 5-6 "very good" teams and one elite team. These very good teams, and even UNC the elite team are vulnerable in one-shot tournaments.
3/18/2007 2:02:10 PM
man the acc fucked my bracket
3/18/2007 2:02:27 PM
3/18/2007 2:04:36 PM
weird that the one supposed "elite team" finished with the same record as another "very good" team, and only 1 game ahead of some of these other "very good" teams.
3/18/2007 2:05:25 PM
Weird how they played the exact same schedule and demonstrated they have the same level of talent too.Oh wait
3/18/2007 2:10:44 PM
fuck vt
3/18/2007 4:03:18 PM
hey now, its better than a shitty football conference like the SEC which only has 3 or 4 teams in the Sweet 16... oh wait... I see
3/18/2007 4:09:23 PM
The ACC was pretty mediocre this year. Usually we have 2-3 top 10 teams and 4-6 teams in that 20-40 rangle. This year we had 1 top 10 team and 7 in that 20-40 range. Still, ACC was easily the best conference this year. That said, Kansas ftw in this tourney.
3/18/2007 4:11:36 PM
Is UNC really an "elite" team? They're really not that great, in all seriousness.
3/18/2007 4:12:14 PM
That's who I've got going all the way. I think I'm gonna regret it. When they had Royboy they'd always dissapoint....and Bill Self is not as good as Royboy.
3/18/2007 4:12:38 PM
3/18/2007 4:31:25 PM
Deng, Livingston, ShavlikAnd to a lesser extent, I think they were counting on ASU transfer Eric Boateng.[Edited on March 18, 2007 at 4:35 PM. Reason : ]
3/18/2007 4:35:06 PM
forgot about Dengdoes Shavlik even count as a good player?
3/18/2007 4:38:25 PM
well if they let ncstate and florida state in...its not fair how they penalize teams for past injuries
3/18/2007 4:39:40 PM
I think Shav would have developed into a solid backup center to McBob. Duke would have a helluva lineup had those guys not opted for the NBA/ASU
3/18/2007 4:40:09 PM
Duke cannot complain about a lack of talen when they have 6 mcdonald's all-americans on the team.
3/18/2007 4:42:16 PM
Shav would be gone by now though. Livingston and Deng would be around..How about a UNC-UConn Championship game this year.UConn would have Gay, Andrew Bynum, Villanueva, Boone, and Marcus Williams..UNC would have Marvin Williams and J.R. Smith in addition to all their crazy talent..** Avery and Magette were pretty much not welcome back anyway in Durham. Had Magette kept playing they would have to vacate every game he played in for Duke..[Edited on March 18, 2007 at 4:47 PM. Reason : forgot jr smith.. though i wouldnt have mentioned smith/bynum had livingston not been brought up]
3/18/2007 4:44:24 PM
^^^^^^ Williams and Avery^ Howard and JR Smith for UNC too.[Edited on March 18, 2007 at 5:08 PM. Reason : ]

OMG Imagine if we had gotten Pistol Pete like we were supposed to!!We would have at least 4 more championships!!!!1
3/18/2007 8:29:22 PM
for realsies
3/18/2007 8:30:25 PM
Switch out 6 non-conference games with conference games, then round robin against everyone will make the conference alot better. But since I doubt they'd want 22 games:
3/18/2007 8:30:35 PM
3/18/2007 9:10:21 PM
As long as the ACC is the benchmark, it is the best conference year in and year out. Notice debate on the best conference always starts with "Who is the best conference this year, the ACC or ____?"The elite teams for each conference are a bit up and down every year (this year the ACC is lacking multiple "elite" teams), but the ACC consistently has the best bottom half of any conference year after year. Is there any other conference where the bottom three teams have a legit shot at beating anyone in the country?
3/18/2007 9:19:18 PM
the decline of the acc is b/c of parity in college basketball, nothing else.
3/18/2007 9:29:12 PM
the extra teams didn't help
3/18/2007 9:41:49 PM
3/18/2007 10:39:06 PM
didn't avery leave early?and dahntay jones? I know he transferred from rutgers, but I thought he left with a year of eligibility left
3/18/2007 10:49:35 PM
what is the significance of this thread?
3/19/2007 12:58:24 AM
^ It's better than your "You people are sick for supporting our team" thread. That's the significance.
