they keep telling me i'm not eligilble for promotional pricing. as of now i'm paying $95/month for road runner lite and digipic1000. they had a deal on thier site for $84 for digipicc1000+full speed rr, and another for rr, digital phone and digipic1000 for $109. this is the second time i've called threatening to cancel/switch. the lady interogated me for like 15 mins "well what's the speed of time warner since u say the other company is just as fast?" she said the best she could do was add rr and give me a 10$ dicount on my total bill bringing it to $109. am i doin something wrong here? is there some1 i could speak to by name maybe?

You can't threaten to cancel unless you really intend to do it if they don't make the change. You can just call and be stern and say "If I can not get an adjustment to these rates as I see them... I would like for you to cancel my account immediately" - it is likely they will make the change... but if not... too bad. They don't like to lose business any more than the next company, but if they are dumb enough to do that I would just change to satellite and DSL or an alternative cable company.

or if they let you cancel and sign back up you can do that... with the same address it may be difficult

you can cancel, but you'd have to return the boxes and everything. I'd be easier to have a roomate/girlfriend put it in their name. I tried to switch it to my name last year (from a roomates name), and they said I had to cancel then reactivate. We had to switch all boxes and everything, but we got the promo package for 6 more months.

I went through all this in Charlotte. Saw on Pack Pride that if you threaten to cancel they throw you some deals. Wasn't the case in Charlotte. I told them to cancel it. Waited until 3 hours before they were going to show up and then called it off. I even called the retention dept. and spoke to them. They offered nothing. If only my wife would let me have Direct TV.

If your willing to put up with a little aggrevation you can cancel some of your service and then go to sales and tell them you want an upgrade promotion, I got rid of the movie channels for a week then called and upgraded to get the movie channels and the hd sports for less that I used to play (while on the promotion for the next 6 months) then i will get on a retention promotion. The key is if your already on a retention promotion they cant put u on another one of those but they could do an upgrade promotion.

At least in my experience, everything you hear about rain outtages with satellite is now wrong. In its early years, this was a problem, but now I enjoy 100% reception even in thunderstorms.

I read half the first sentence: All service corps try to FUCK people into paying money they shouldn't because cowards keep paying them. They are using peoples laziness and ignorant fear to make money. You only need credit to buy shit you can't afford: you can get a home very cheaply if you save up 20% down. If you can't save up that much, you aren't prepared to subjugate yourself to a lender and therefore you can't afford it. If you have alot invested in a mortgage, they WANT you to default so they can steal your equity from you. Therefore, you can actually get a better mortgage than goodytwoshoes when you have a 20% downpayment.
