that was when there was a play-in game, we won that, went on to beat duke 66-60 in the quarterfinals, we went all the way to the championship, only to lose to carolina 64-54

ahh so basically we are both right, the semi-finals was round 1 back then. I was thinking TGD was refering to State beating Duke in the play-in game.

Duke was 23-1 in the last 8 years...they won 7 of the last 8 (Maryland beat Duke in the finals the other year) (fyi)

^^^i think that was the year Justin Gainey set the record for minutes played by a Freshman in the acc tourney, he never came out of the game for 4 games so thats 160 minutes

a random record but i thought no one would ever break it but with the new format now i guess theres a chance for someone someday
