^lmaoi just found out they don't have races in rockingham anymore. guess thats what happens when the capacity is six times the population. thats like raleigh having a 2 million seat venue.how much are charlotte and darlington tickets?i see an alstar challenge and a race in may in charlotte.

first off as stated before. nascar game?!?!?! GTFO!!! IT IS CALLED A RACE NOT A GAME!now to answer your question, the all star race in may in charlotte would be your best bet if you have never been to one. i do not suggest going to the 600 race in may unless you are a true fan. any short track race would be fun, darlington/richmond/martinsville/bristol, but good luck getting tickets to bristol.
3/7/2007 9:13:13 PM
The night race in Bristol is one of the best races to go to. Its towards the end of August sometime. The all-star race in Charlotte is a good one to. If it was me I would go to Bristol and watch that race.

when nascar fans think you're stupid, you've really accomplished something.
3/7/2007 10:18:27 PM
yea def. stay away from the coca cola 600 in may in charlotte. Way too long of a race for a first race. The all star race would be good the week before. Other than that, the closest tracks are martinsville, va (april 1) or darlington, sc (may 12). Bristol would be the coolest place to go, but always tough to get tickets. Also, tickets work in reverse from any other sport. The higher up you sit, the "better" your tickets are, and also the most expensive. Cheapest tickets for any race are usually on the backstretch or in the turns. We usually pay approx. 45 - 60 bucks for middle of the road tickets.

DARLINGTON IS NOT A SHORT TRACK.Bristol is an experience but the racing isn't really all that good when it comes down to it. Martinsville is an enthusiast track, you'll be bored if you don't know what to look for. Richmond is a very exciting track, but I must say that the IRL race there is more exciting than either of the Winston (OMG NEXTEL) Cup races.

go to martinsville.....it's not too too far away from raleigh, the tickets aren't as expensive as some other venues, and any seat is pretty much a good seat, although i'd suggest sitting in one of the turns so you can see down both stretches of the track

some of you are too stupid to catch the humor.

My first NASCAR RACE will be this Month at Bristol. Not going for pleasure though, as NASCAR seems boring as shit to me, but when you get paid to go it is probably lots of fun.

yeah, im going more for the culture/atmosphere than anything elseand getting shitfaced

Ok, so like I said before I've never been to a race and don't really follow nascar, but I've decided to go to the Coca Cola 600 race (and yeah I see what the comments were about this for a race n00b in the thread)...I've looked at information on the Lowe's Motor Speedway website, but I still have some questions...I'm wanting to make a long weekend (24th through the 28th), going to Speed Street as well and hopefully hitting up some cool bars and stuff. I've never had the chance to hang out in Charlotte, and hopefully will be going with at least one person that knows Charlotte & has been to a race. 1. What is the best way to go about getting tickets? Should I go to the Busch race/qualifying as well??2. Where is the best place to stay? (Probably find a friend's place to crash at?)3. Obviously you can bring beer in, but the FAQs page just said 14x14x14 for cooler size...what dimensions is this??If anyone has any other suggestions/tips, it would be greatly appreciated...you can PM me info as well if you don't feel like posting in the thread.

^ i can help you with a fewgo to the busch race, it is usually more exciting than the cup race and you should be able to get good tickets for a much cheaper price. It's usually a good warmup for the Cup race. There are scalpers, but usually Lowes has deals that hook you up with seats for both races (Never tried them though).the cooler size is basically what you can fit under your seat. as long as you arent bothering anyone, they dont care.We have tickets in the GM section in the 36th row for busch/cup for the spring and fall races and we always carry a cooler big enough for about 20 cans. On an unrelated note, I'd recommend renting a scanner if you dont have one. It enhances the experience and also drowns out the noise if the sound of loud engines isnt your type of thing[Edited on April 8, 2007 at 9:44 PM. Reason : . feel free to pm if you need any more info]

Proper ear protection in whatever form is essential... you'll be miserable without it.I used toilet paper the first time.[Edited on April 8, 2007 at 10:02 PM. Reason : TP for my earhole]

erice85 hit the nail on the head. Busch races are fun, especially if your not into fighting the crowds. Also, if you go to both races, get there super early and dont plan on leaving anytime soon after the race. I usually wait a good 2 hours or so after the end so I wont wait in traffic for forever. I'd see if you have some buddies with infield tickets. Watching a race is much better from atop a camper then stuck in the stands.
