i heard that he had sexual relations with a black woman.

3/1/2007 9:19:23 AM
I liked straight talking McCain but I am not so sure about the pander to the fundies McCain.
3/1/2007 9:50:53 AM
agreed....and i feel the same way about giuliani. i liked him until the last presidential elections...he just coughed up republican talking points at every opportunity rather then doing what got him elected in the first place.
3/1/2007 10:07:17 AM
It's just too far enough to even begin to guess who the real front runners are going to be. We all know what could happen between now and primary time.
3/1/2007 10:23:38 AM
All candidates pander in order to get through the primaries. Unfortunately for McCain, the divide between libertarianesque Republicans and Christian conservatives is so wide that he looks like a hypocrite jumping back and forth to tell everybody what they want to hear.
3/1/2007 10:48:37 AM
Didn't McCain about a year ago publicly criticize Jerry Falwell for a few things then like 3 weeks later he did a speech at Liberty University?
3/1/2007 11:00:01 AM
3/1/2007 11:02:59 AM
^^ yeah, he called him an "agent of intolerance" and compared him to Louis Farrakhan, but I believe it was much more than 3 weeks before he made a speech at Liberty Univ.

3/1/2007 11:22:28 AM
^^He thinks Roe V Wade should be overturned, but he doesn't want to be the one to have to repeal it. What's so hard to understand about that? [Edited on March 1, 2007 at 11:49 AM. Reason : 2]
3/1/2007 11:49:22 AM
3/1/2007 12:28:09 PM
I guess I'll just throw my vote away this yearI'm not voting for mccain or rudy
3/1/2007 1:12:57 PM
not voting is as good as voting for a liberal!
3/1/2007 1:34:23 PM
Good. I hope he gets through the primary but the far right is so nutty I'm sure he won't. He's the only Republican, as of now, that I'd vote for... unless McCain loses and Hillary wins the D primary, in which case I'd abstain.[Edited on March 1, 2007 at 1:44 PM. Reason : EVERY politician flip flops..]
3/1/2007 1:42:55 PM
Right now I'm leaning towards Guiliani. But once I see everyone lay their cards on the table I might change my mind.
3/1/2007 1:46:06 PM
sucks that republicans aren't even republicans anymore
3/1/2007 2:07:00 PM
3/1/2007 2:17:11 PM
3/1/2007 3:34:19 PM
I had a lot of respect for him way back when because, although I disagreed with him on a lot of stuff, he seemed like he would keep it real. The past year or so, though...yeah. Fuck that.
3/1/2007 3:45:29 PM
^^yeah, Navy pilot (not USAF)
3/1/2007 4:02:49 PM
^ thanks, I meant to type it in, not sure why it slipped my mind.
3/1/2007 4:17:51 PM
so what was your opinion of the swiftboat attacks? did you defend Kerry?
3/1/2007 6:16:21 PM
I didn't vote for him, but I thought it was kinda messed up how they threw him under the bus. It is a lot easier to support a guy with an unblemished military record over Kerry though, so I'm not sure if Kerry's military background is a good analogy.
3/1/2007 7:30:58 PM
i dont remember kerry having any bad remarks on his record
3/1/2007 8:17:36 PM
I guess its not technically on his record but I was referring to the claims made by his peers and commanders that he lied about his involvement in the war and made false accusations of war crimes. Could be bs, but it certainly doesn't strengthen his reputation as a military man.
3/1/2007 8:25:45 PM
John McCain needs to dust off his lightsaber. He has a lot of enemies on the Dark Side to battle.
3/2/2007 12:16:05 AM
ill take a guy who had his military service lied about over a guy who skipped out on national guard duty.
3/2/2007 12:17:18 AM
well, yeah, but that only gets you through the republican primary. then do you choose a progressive democrat or a suckup to the religious right?
3/2/2007 12:24:45 AM
he's not going to get past the republican primary. he's pissed off too many republicans in the past. unless of course the field of republicans is really pathetic in '08.
3/2/2007 10:09:06 AM
3/2/2007 10:16:31 AM
i thought bush criticizing anyone's military record was about the most ballsy political move i've ever seen.
3/2/2007 10:17:43 AM
3/2/2007 12:49:11 PM
3/2/2007 1:23:41 PM
yeah bush didnt exactly flee to canada or anything
3/2/2007 1:27:10 PM
^^he went missing for a while
3/2/2007 1:30:25 PM
^^Dude, fleeing to Canada woulda been more honorable than what Bush did.I'm not gonna harp on the fact that Bush was a punk ass rich kid because I'm a bit of a punk ass myself, but let's not pretend his "military service" was admirable in any way. That's offensive to the guys who actually did their part and made sacrifices.
