I fucking despise George W Bush. So, for once I can agree with liberals on something. And, also, any true conservative should also hate W. Although liberals n conservatives hate him for different reasons, many reasons actually overlap ie left n right share some common hatreds of GW Bush

I agree completelywell I'm a pretty "bad" republican anyway, if I were to even get labeled as one since I despise church, don't care what gay folks do, and don't believe the government has a right to tell people what to do with their bodiesand I feel even worse about options in 08 I do feel that he was dealt a hand that few presidents have ever been dealt also[Edited on February 28, 2007 at 6:56 PM. Saying that you're just going to repeal stuff is just as counterproductive as saying you're just going to do new stuff.Sounds to me like he's just as far off balance, just on the opposite side.

I feel that if it wasn't for the "Moral Revolution" in the 1990's most liberals and conservatives would have much more in common. Maybe not entirely true, but i tend to see more of the same economic, educational, fiscal, and environmental goals from "true" blues and reds. Its that silly morality issues trumping all common ground thats more or less torn us apart.not saying moral issues are bad...but the ones chosen as issues, have done nothing but breed mistrust and contempt.

^ Best example of that is the Abortion War. What have NARAL, Right to Life, etc. ever accomplished except fleece people for money? Roe vs. Wade has stood for 30 years pretty much unchanged. We have abortion allowed in the first trimester and then usually nothing after that unless in very extreme circumstances. All this money has gone to pro-life and pro-choice organizations and all that money has ever accomplished is one big stalemate. I'm going to start calling the Abortion Debate in this country the Iran-Iraq War: absolutely pointless.[Edited on March 1, 2007 at 2:05 PM. Reason : .]

speaking of Goldwater, I've always wondered how things would be different today if he'd defeated the worst President in the history of modern America, LBJ.

What's a "true" conservative?
3/2/2007 1:45:29 AM
A true conservative would not support massive spending and expansion of governmental powers just because theres a republican in office thats doing it.

Well, it takes a legislative act to undo a legislative act, so in that sense its sort of a losing proposition.
