I just found someone online that I would like to buy a high price item (sort of 200-300 dollars) and I wanted to find a way to with hold payment until i received the product. I decided against paypal since i have to pay the dealer before i get the equipment. I was wondering if anyone has done a cash-on-delivery (COD) through usps and is it efficient in me getting my equipement and him his payment (a few days later?) and how does it work.p.s. didnt know whether to put this in here or classifieds. i went with here since im not selling anything, just want an intelligent answer.

i dont know about usps, but i've dealt with UPS COD.theres a fee (around $8?) for cod... basically you get the product and give the ups guy a check/money order/etc. there's an envelope attached that you put it in, and the payment is sent back to the person that sent the package.

Yea, I've used UPS COD numerous times. I don't know about now, but years ago it took a while for the seller to get their money (2-3 weeks).

i did it last year, as a seller, once. got my money without too much issue. 3 problems though. 1) you dont get to open the package before you give them payment. so if it is broken or the wrong item, you still lose.2) many sellers wont do COD because of...3) the person with a COD can write bad checks to pay for the COD[Edited on February 24, 2007 at 10:53 AM. 200-300 is NOT a high price item - this is very common - use paypal and if you get fucked over then you just go through their proper channels - they are there for a reason
