If you arent one.How can a "religion" blind someone enough to believe that there is only one way to live your life?

Sweet, I fucked up the spelling.Long story short, long relationship, married in June then blammo. I cant go in the temple so bye bye to me.
2/21/2007 11:42:15 AM
So, a Mormon married you and then bailed when you couldn't go in the temple?
2/21/2007 11:47:29 AM
You would think your wife would have caught that subtle little nuance and just not married you to begin with. I guess she was holding out hope that you would convert.
2/21/2007 11:47:40 AM
i'm reading a 600-page book right now on the history of the mormon churchmost bizarre thing i have ever readbut it shows how they are able to recruit so many followers by isolating themselves and removing anyone that questions the veracity of their holy book or prophecies.
2/21/2007 11:47:42 AM
DUMM-DUM-DUM-DUM-DUUMMMMM
2/21/2007 11:49:17 AM
2/21/2007 11:53:22 AM
I could have told you this. My roommate is converting sorta or in the process of it right now. It's just another cult that is trying to get as many people as they can to go to hell with them.
2/21/2007 11:53:34 AM
wow
2/21/2007 11:55:49 AM
I don't believe that mormons are a christian denomination.I believe they are using the front to convert people but in the long run they are pretty much as wrong as they come.I don't believe they are Christians.
2/21/2007 11:57:47 AM
2/21/2007 12:04:58 PM
Well, I'm mormon. I consider myself Christian. You are certainly entitled to your opinion just as much as I am to mine. I guess when it really comes down to it I only worry about whether Christ thinks I'm Christian.^My guess...One of the purposes of temples is eternal marriage. We believe that marriages performed in the temple are eternal in nature while marriages performed outside the temple are of an until death do you part nature. You have to be a member of the church for at least a year to go to the temple. Given she divorced him I'm guessing that she put a high value on a temple marriage and he didn't want to convert.I personally know someone from about 10 or so years ago where this was the case.[Edited on February 21, 2007 at 12:10 PM. sorry to hear that man
2/21/2007 12:06:09 PM
you're notonly Catholics are true Christians
2/21/2007 12:06:53 PM
yea only true christians sweep pedophiles under the rug and move them to different parishes instead of punishing the sick bastards.sorry i've got alot of problems with the catholic church. Codifying guilt isn't a good thing. Furthermore, I've known more people that are fucked up from being Catholic than I know people who are benefitted from being Catholic.
2/21/2007 12:09:35 PM
i can say that i dont know hardly anyone that has benefitted from being a member of ANY religion.........they are all equally as fucked up and worthless... just in different ways
2/21/2007 12:11:40 PM
We were engaged to be married, not married yet. Things were on track then this came out of the blue. Its weird, people basically forcasted this ending but I wouldnt believe. She has dreamed of a temple sealing all her life and has been drilled with their mantra so thats what she thinks she has to have to be happy, therefore I am not on the path to happiness for her.[Edited on February 21, 2007 at 12:13 PM. Reason : Oh, and I will NEVER become Mormon. I tried in the beginning to understand and was very open to it.]
2/21/2007 12:12:37 PM
At the risk of sounding callous, how did you get married to this girl without realizing this would eventually happen? I mean, you knew she was a Mormon, right?
2/21/2007 12:14:10 PM
Look above you faggot. I guess I should have been a little more clear in the beginning.
2/21/2007 12:15:23 PM
^^^^nonsense, there's a ton of people who have benefitted greatly from religion.jerry falwellpat robertsonjesse jacksonal sharptonbut in all honesty, there are droves of people who have had their lives turned around, for the better, by religion - be it Christianity, Taoism, Buddhism, or otherwise. it's not a bad thing when people discover it - it's bad thing when people become victimized by it.[Edited on February 21, 2007 at 12:18 PM. Reason : that really blows, man.]
2/21/2007 12:17:47 PM
Thanks for calling me a faggot, but your post wasn't there when I started writing mine. But seriously, Mormonism is so fucked up, I don't see how anyone could be involved with somebody who was seriously into it. I mean, it's better than Scientology, but not by much.
2/21/2007 12:18:05 PM
to spooky and axlI would have to agree there, its a business whos goal is to expand. I mean, all supplies come from Salt Lake and all the money goes there to fund expansion.

I loved the hell out of her, she wasnt a missionary although she did tell me stories how the missionaries would always hit on her when they were on their missions.

Mormons cannot be christians because there are several mormon beliefs that directly contradict with those of the Bible, one being that Mormons do not believe that Jesus is God. And that there are multiple gods, and that you can achieve "god-hood"

i always wanted to marry an Amish girl, because they are so pure, unspoilt, disciplined, and hardworking. and some are hot too.but i guess that is impossible, as either i would have to join, or she would have to leave.

2/21/2007 1:59:34 PM
Yeah, I could have told you this was going to happen, even if she had a choice to deviate from what the religion allows. I know several people that have has something similar happen, and if you weren't raised the way she was, you won't understand where she's coming from or vice versa.

Has anyone seen Big Love?It makes me want to claw out Chloe Seveigny's eyes.
2/21/2007 2:02:31 PM
Beleiving in Jesus as a God makes you a Christian. Many religions recognize him as a prophet. I thought that was a given.

relativism doesn't apply here.If you claim to believe in christ, but also subscribe to a contradiction his teachings, you don't really believe in Christ, you're just living a lie.
2/21/2007 2:14:21 PM
Like judging whether or not other people are Christian?
