My laptop went off in the power outage around Western today and wouldn't come back on. Yes I'm a fucking idiot without a surge protector. Anyone know of how hard it would be to fix a laptop that this happened to? If not, anyone have a decent laptop for sale?

Your laptop is toast. Sell it for parts.Check ebay or the classifieds. I'd reccomend the IBM ThinkPad T23 if you need a basic WiFi laptop. It'll run you around $3-400 on ebay these days, I imagine.

i'd take it to a laptop repair place. It can probably be fixed. the question is cost.

I just found out that my dad got renter's insurance for it, so for 250 bucks i SHOULD be able to get a brand new laptop for what this one cost three years ago. So this may end up being dumb luck considering the laptops in the same price range are a lot better nowadays.

Just took it to the repair shop next to Wal-Mart on Glenwood. 250 bucks for them to look at it sufficiently enough to tell the insurance company if it's toast or not.

It's not a thinkpad you got through the bookstore is it?

Nah, my dad and bro got it at some computer show a few years back. And my brother said he's considering "breaking" his due to all the great deals he's seen for Dells.
