I need a shop that doesnt suck, and wont try to pull me pants down over the price. Maybe a transmission shop would be a good place to start, but if you now of a good shop that can do transmission work but is not a transmission shop, id like to hear it.But its needs to be a shop that knows about older american pick-ups, not a shop that specializes in imports, etc

just get another trans. older american pickup, im sure there are tons of trans out there for cheaper than a shop would charge

the trans isnt the problem

well i dont know why i thought it was the problem...

ive got blown gaskets between the trans and the engine causing my clutch to be saturated. I just cant seem to get to them, so i decided before i fucked anything up to that i might as well pay to have it done[Edited on February 18, 2007 at 3:06 PM. Reason : ]

I've had mine worked on at Cottman's. I don't have any major complaints.

sounds like your rear main seal. the transmission/clutch/flywheel has to be pulled to replace it.

^ i know i started doing it in my parking lot, and got the gear box off, and started on the bell housing, then i decided i should cut my loses and call a shopbut knowing whats wrong isnt really the problem. The problem is im not from around here, and normally i do all my own work so i never needed a shop (besides a tire shop) So i need to know of somewhere good.I was thinking Dauntless Transmissions[Edited on February 18, 2007 at 3:15 PM. if you've got the transmission out, you've done the hard part...

well actually i stoped after i got the gear box off, because the trans mounts are on the bellhousing, so i was going to have to jack up the engine to pull off the bellhousing. since i dont have a lift, this seemed a little to much for me to do in the parking lot today, so i went ahead and put the shit back tegether, and i must have shifted the gears or something cause the thing wont shift. So im throwing in the towel. Im pretty sure it will go back into gear once i spin the driveshaft a few times, but id rather just let someone look at it
