to the slam dunk contest..... or not

The other thread was lame, and it didnt have this article

Quote :
"Two nights before the actual dunk contest -- and assuming you can still have an actual controversy in what sadly ranks as the faded jewel of All-Star Weekend -- I'm told that Dwight Howard is rather steamed.

Reason being: Howard's request to have the basket raised on a couple dunks he had planned for Saturday evening has been denied by the league.

Orlando sources report that Howard has been practicing a couple wicked maneuvers that might inject this dying competition with the ingenuity/originality it desperately needs. One is a 360 throwdown with the rim hiked to 12 feet, two feet higher than regulation. The other sets the rim at 11 ½ feet and has Howard purportedly going between his legs with the ball in mid-air before flushing. "

what is the problem with this? its a great idea i think

i mean this Dunk contest has been dead, it was ok last year but Nate Robinson won because he is short, Andrea Igoudala should have won it hands down...

i mean look at the dunkers (Nate Robinson, Gerald Green, Dwight Howard and Tyrus Thomas)

im excited about Howard and i know Thomas can fly, but what else can Nate do? Plus 12ft 360 dunk? thats fucking nuts

ATTN: LeBron, grow a fucking set of nuts and enter a god damn dunk contest, this is for the fans

^AHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Raise one of the goals. Have one at 10' and another adjustable goal. Great idea Dwight.

Dwight Howard is awesome. The NBA sucks for not letting him try this.

I think Gerald Green will win pretty easily.

Thomas has no chance after his remarks.

Little man isnt gonna have the crowd feeling him since he's proven to be a freak and he pissed everyone off last year.

Dwight Howards too big... big dunkers just dont have the finesse they need.

Green is just too nasty. That dunk he threw down in the summer league two years ago was amazing

If the NBA let him do it then ppl would stop voting for the people who dunk on 10' goals and the dunks would all be about height and power and less about making them flashy. Basically you'd have to be 6'6 to join the dunk contest. The greatest dunker of all time was 5'11 but he didnt play in the NBA, still there are some little guys worth watching dunking

Trust me he was never going to do a 360 on a 12 ft goal probably just some kind of power dunk.

I'm sure he can think of something creative to do on a 10 ft goal I mean kiss the rim or something.

Kadour Ziani = the best dunker of all time. He didn't play basketball. Followed by Air Up There from And 1. Vince is the greatest NBA dunker in history

No but I know he can't do a 360 on 12' goal. Only two ppl have ever even dunked on a 12 ft. goal period I really doubt he is that much better than the second highest.

I'm a huge UNC fan but I'm not for Vince on the Bobcats. He's good but he will be very overpaid by whoever signs him. He doesn't play hard most of the time and a lot of the time he doesn't play at all. Bernie needs to find a coach. The Bobcats need to be patient, keep large cap space to keep their core together maybe find some cheap decent SG like Rasual Butler. Bobcats are going to be a terror in 3 years.

the thing is, the Bobcats have to do something BIG this year after the season

they have got to get some asses in seats

and Vince is going to be out there, and he is a damn baller, and we have lots of money to spend along with getting 2 more draft picks

also, i wouldnt start my posting career by saying you are a huge unc fan

^ and yes i know, but wouldnt it be more impressive if they did it now?
