I was disappointed with how the distinctions were put on the diplomas... It looks like mine were printed the same as everyone else's, and then with a red rubber stamp 'SUMMA CUM LAUDE' was quickly stamped on there.

The distinction on my EE diploma wasn't straight and there wasn't enough ink on the stamp so it's real splotchy towards the end of LAUDE. For the other degree, the top half of summa cum laude was much darker than the bottom.

pretty crappy i think

I know the Magna Cum Laude is hardly readable on mine. I think it is to freaking small. I earned that shit and when my coworkers walks into my office I want that shit starring them in the face.

so i'm assuming if its just a stamp, the distinction includes the grades for your final semester?

I'll be graduating magna cum laude, but i won't be in that bracket til the end of the semester

who could i ask that would know for sure?

^ What exactly do you need to know? ALL your grades get factored in. It's based on your final cumulative GPA.

Not sure what year people got stamps, but mine from May 04 has the honors in red etching, just like the NCSU seal at the top.

^^ Actually I'm not sure about that. I know Valedictorian does NOT include your last semesters grades and atleast the initial list of Summa/Magna etc doesn't include the last semester.

i'm asking if my final semester grades will be included in the cumulative GPA which determines which level of recognition you get... that is, will the grades get reported fast enough for R&R or whomever to realize i should be magna cum laude rather than cum laude?

^they won't be recorded fast enough to post it in the graduation program. But when they mail out diplomas, it'll show the final calculation

I would be soooooooooooooooooooooooooo impressed if I walked into a office and saw that on a diploma....I would probably say something like...wow, you were smart back in the day, ehhh?

Diplomas are only mailed out for winter graduation. In May you actually get your diploma at the ceremony.

they should. i just barely got summa due to my final semester, and it was on my diploma at graduation. i had already purchased a magna stole, so i had to go back and show them proof of my grades so i could uprade to a summa one.

if your honors status changes due to your last semester then you get a piece of paper that says your honors status has changed instead of getting your diploma

its actually kinda funny when people open up their diploma at graduation and its not there

its not like you actually need your physical diploma for anything

you don't go on a job interview with diploma in hand

you won't get your diploma on graduation day if you have certain types of loans that require you to sign a bunch of stuff. They sent me the forms a week after graduation (after I called and yelled). But I got a lovely note in the diploma holder saying "You did not receive a diploma for "academic reasons" and some other bs about how this means I didn't receive a degree and I'm just being allowed to "walk". I panicked thinking I had missed a class I needed to graduate or that a grade wasn't turned in.
