I've been having some weird mouse issues of late. Periodically, my mouse cursor will start moving at half speed. Sometimes, the mouse will disconnect and then reconnect after which everything will still work fine. At first I thought I had a bad ps2 port so I changed to USB. The problem keeps happening irregardless of which USB port I use. When it decides to move all slow, all of the button still work. I can unplug the mouse and then plug it back in and have it work fine... for a while anyway. I've checked the mouse software and everything is in working order. I reinstalled it just to make sure. The only thing I can figure is that the mouse is dying. Anyone have a reason to suggest where this would not be the case? It's been occurring with increasing frequency, so I'm almost driven to the point of getting a new mouse. I figured I would solicit some opinions from you guys before I resort to getting a new mouse in case there is something that I didn't think of.

try blowing out (ie, cleaning) the lens for the laser on the bottom of your mouse.not sure how that relates to it disconnecting, but it should fix your tracking issues.

^ I don't think microsoft will be jumping to replace my 4 year old mouse anytime soon. I'm looking at the MS 6000 laser mouse as a replacement for this 5 button optical Intellimouse that I have. It has the same basic configuration and the symmetrical layout that I like.

^ That would have been great.... 2 months ago. Actually, 2 months ago it would still have been a shitty mouse that I wouldn't have wanted.
