Does the controller charge if the PS3 is not being used but the main power in on (switch on the back)

the green light on the console has to be on

which is really stupid, imho.


here's a trick though: if you have a cable box, it probably has USB ports on it. Plug them up to to that... profit.

i just plug it into the USB hub next to my couch...that way even if the battery dies down, i can just hook it up and keep playing with the short cord

The green light does not have to be on. If the light is red it will charge. I have verified this.

I usually just wait til I have time to watch a movie, and use my ps3 to watch a movie while the controller is charging. Profit.
