Are you selling this as a whole or are you willing to part out some of the rock and live stock?
2/7/2007 12:37:51 AM
you probably won't get more than $500. That's what sucks about the hobby, you put all this money into it, but you won't get crap when you trying to get out.

$20 for the snowflake eel.... could pick it up anytime.
2/7/2007 1:22:54 PM
i would like to sell it as a whole package. splitting it up would result in me being left with bits and pieces. couldn't even begin to guess what I have spent on this thing, but i know it is more than 500. ^ i paid $30 fo the snowflake eel when it was a measly 7". it's over a foot now, so $20 won't cut it.pics to come when i get my camera back.

$20.00 for the whole thing.

Retail for what you listed is around $1075 for the whole setup, except brioropsis cause thats not even a word, dunno what you were trying to spell. So $500 would actually be a good deal if it was offered. Were you trying to spell bryopsis? bryopsis is a form of undesireable green hair like algae. [Edited on February 8, 2007 at 8:52 AM. how much would you sell the snowflake eel for by itself?
2/8/2007 4:43:05 PM
"brioropsis", or whatever it is, is just what I was told this stuff was. it definitely does not look like hair algae though. I will label it tonight when i upload pics. It very well may have some totally different name.

I've just been through this, and unless you REALLY luck out, you will not sell this as a set. Try Craigslist, maybe a little sign at a pet store. Good luck.

$500 is about what you'll get for it, unless you find a sucker. There's one born every second you know.

the "brioropsis" (again not a real word) looks to be Pipe Organ polyps, Tubipora musica, as they look to have 8 tendrals to each polyp.

^ thanks for the correction, i'll stop using the old (and apparently not real) name.that being said, I have quite a bit of pipe organ coral, which I am willing to sell if anyone is interested. It's all really healthy and happy, and I will sell it for $25 per square inch.[Edited on February 9, 2007 at 7:45 AM. Reason : ]

Sort of topic related, I see you're including that Salt Creep product, I was just curious if you found that it worked? Also nice pics of your setup.
2/9/2007 1:09:34 PM
if you do part it out I'd like some live sand
2/9/2007 4:58:14 PM
Could be xenia or green star polyps....can't tell from the pics
2/9/2007 7:28:14 PM
Its neither xenia or star polyps, you can tell from the pics, its an octocoral, with a hard, tube like base = pipe organ. xenia grows from single stalks and branches out, star polyps form a mat, have much shorter "stalks" and do not extend that far out.
2/9/2007 10:46:03 PM
it looks sort of like green star, just without the green star. definitely not xenia though. the salt creep stuff works really well as long as you apply it like once a week. i think it was $7 for an 8 oz bottle.thanks for the props on the picsi have quite a bit of sand from pawleys island left, probably in the neighborhood of 40 lbs or so. its a mix of small shell hash and sand, but since it has been in a rubbermaid bin on my deck, i would seriously doubt it to be live anymore. any takers? i'd like to see it gone, so make me an offer...
2/10/2007 8:34:31 PM
that is NOT 60lbs of live rocks, and why the hell would anybody put sand from pawleys island in their tank. Parasites anyone?oh, and that does not look like a pipe organ coral. Those do not have a carbonate skeleton(and pipe organs are usually red skeleton). Also i don't think the lights you have on there are strong enough to support pipe organs. Those are some kind of clove polyp. I don't think anything else would survive long in that tank.Let me ask you this. At night or when disturbed does their whole body shrink down?[Edited on February 11, 2007 at 12:21 AM. Reason : .]
2/10/2007 11:58:31 PM
it is ~60 lbs of live rock. i bought it all, i think i would know. there's nothing wrong with the pawleys island sand. i have never had any miniscule problems, and have never lost a fish. i don't have strong lights on there, but the ones i have serve their purpose so that is why i havent upgraded. asshole.
2/12/2007 7:40:28 AM
What are the dimensions? Also, how long have you had the set-up?I might definitely be interested, though I would worry about the future of the inverts with an eel in the tank (even a snowflake).
