I have a dell laptop, WXGA+ or whatever so the native resolution is 1400x1050. When I'm at home, I hook it up to at 17" LCD with vga cable, and then the resolution changes to 1280x1024 (native resolution of the LCD). all of that works good.

My work computer is also at 1280x1024. When I use remote desktop to connect from my laptop with LCD monitor to my work computer, the remote desktop connection uses the 1400x1050 resolution so I have to use scrollbars to see the whole screen.

Both computers are windows xp.. does anyone know how to get it working right?

when you open the remote desktop connection, select options, then display, then change to the resolution you want to use.

It is working right, just not how you want it to. I'd follow stowaway's suggestion if I were you.
