I had an interview on Friday and they said they would give me a call early this week after they had spoken to their manager and let me know if I will be able to meet with him for a formal interview. How long would you guys wait before calling back? The job is in financial services if that helps at all.

I would give them until Wednesday. If you don't hear from them by then, call them early on Thursday.
2/5/2007 3:25:45 PM
Did you send a thank you letter?I would call on Friday.
2/5/2007 3:25:58 PM
definitely send a thank you card if you havent alreadysince they said beginning of the week, I'd call back Wednesday afternoon. but i'm also impatient
2/5/2007 3:29:24 PM
id do it friday. soemtimes these decisions take longer then expected.friday is still within the week, but not too soon as to annoy them if they havent had a chance to talk yet.
2/5/2007 3:36:21 PM
some people said wednesday and some people said fridayi'm gonna go with thursday
2/5/2007 3:51:17 PM
I'd call before Friday, nothing will get done on a Friday. Nobody does much of anything on Friday.I know that painful waiting feeling. I'd wait 'til Wednesday, if nothing, phone 'em up early Thursday but don't sound desperate. As already said, get a thank you note/email sent ASAP!

if you dont hear anything by Wed, your SOL.....and sounds like they gave you an excuse to end the interview(did you suck at it?)
2/5/2007 5:45:12 PM
^ I'm sorry, but there's no way you can say that with any degree of certainty.
2/5/2007 6:12:38 PM
^^So not true. If a critical emergency comes up, they may not get back to you ... hiring won't be at the top of their priority list. I interviewed with a company that worked closely with the Red Cross post-Katrina ... the chaos was pretty obvious the walk people were talking and hustling around the complex. Took them awhile to get back to me as a result.Send the thank-you card tomorrow, should arrive Wednesday. Call Thursday.

Also, they may have other informal interviews to do before they narrow the list down to the "formal" interviews. That said, it doesn't hurt to call on Wends, but it doesn't mean your SOL.

ask them if you fucked [/mikey]
2/5/2007 8:28:10 PM
if they dont call you within 72hrs of the interview, you are gonna get a letter.(most likely) If you impressed, they usually turn around immediately and give you a second one...they arent gonna wait.[Edited on February 5, 2007 at 9:57 PM. Reason : w]

ive found this to be relatively true as well. everytime i got a call back it was usually a very specific date or within a short period of time (earlier than expected). others i had to call back or got a very ambiguous deadline were no-gos.

I had decided that no matter what I was going to call late this afternoon when the manager I was talking about gave me a call today and wants to take me out to lunch on Thursday. So its working out well so far. Thanks for those of you that replied even though I didn't have to make that call back.I am still going to call the guys I interviewed with to say thanks and let them know that their manager called me back.

that's money dudecongrats, hope the rest of it works out

I don't get the whole idea of sending thank you cards after interviews. To me it makes no sense. I guess if anything, I'd send thank you cards to places that offered me a job that I declined, but that's about it. "Thank you for considering me for a position with your company." GAY as Carolina blue imo
2/15/2007 5:26:57 PM
You are thanking them for their time.
2/15/2007 5:57:11 PM
Plus if it's still between you and someone else getting the job, it's a friendly reminder of who you are.First job out of school it took them 3 months to offer me the job. I called back 2 weeks after my interviewThe job I'm at now took almost 6 weeks to call me back. I never called them though.

I couldn't get the job because I don't have 12months of trails so they told me that after a year of working in a certian position on the bank side at wachovia that they could trandser me over to the securities side of things. The guy I have been talking to called and let me know that wachovia now has a hiring freeze and that they can last a couple of months!! So I am at a loss
2/22/2007 5:40:50 PM
dude that's crap sorry to hear that man, the company I'm leaving is in a "hiring freeze" too
2/22/2007 6:19:37 PM
Maybe if you went to work at wachovia you could straighten out my fucked up student loan consolidation.
2/22/2007 10:59:43 PM
how long do these things normally last??
2/23/2007 7:57:14 AM
From my experience, they last a couple of months minimum.
