2/1/2007 2:36:45 PM
doesn't someone nominate hitler every year?
2/1/2007 2:44:49 PM
I listen to him I don't agree with everything he says but he's a lot better than most people think. He makes some good points. Of course he has no shot at winning but if Arafat can win one I guess anyone can
2/1/2007 3:22:21 PM
I used to listen to him, but I really can't anymore. He's like an auditory compilation of the worst of TSB wrapped into one three hour show. Its not that I disagree with everything he says, just how he presents it that pisses me off, which may make it worse than having to listen to someone I disagree with.NPR can be the same way. Some of their stuff is good, and its probably the most in depth news you can get on the radio, but they're just so g-ddamned elitist sometimes that I want to reach through the radio and punch them in their little starbucks sipping faces. Does anyone else remember when Tom Joyner was on 680 (the white talk show guy, not the black morning show one)? He was actually pretty good.[Edited on February 1, 2007 at 3:27 PM. Reason : .]

$10 says he introduces himself as "Nobel Nominee El-Rushbo"This is like that "Nobel Nominee" that diagnosed Terry Schiavo as being alert and kicking.
2/1/2007 4:30:19 PM
Um....not anyone can nominate someone for a nobel prize. The Nobel Committee doesn't accept prize nominations from just anyone and usually the Committee isn't public about who got nominated any given year.

this has got to be a fucking joke

honestly, if arafat and carter each won one, and Al Gore has been nominated for one, what kind of a prize is it anyway?
2/1/2007 8:51:08 PM
2/1/2007 8:55:03 PM
Is this Mark R. Levin the same one that says "get off the phone you big dope" on the Hannity show? I hope so, cause its funny. Rush will obviously not be officially nominated for the Nobel prize for appeasement, Mr Levin is illustrating the absurdity and political(anti-USA) nature of the prize. To bad though, I think I'd enjoy his acceptance speech.
2/1/2007 10:33:42 PM
Aren't you the one that believed that Hannity and Rush were great sources of news?
2/2/2007 12:53:32 AM
so you're giving a terrorist like arafat a free pass because "people can change" but you immediately dismiss a non terrorist...hmmm
2/2/2007 1:05:00 AM
maybe its because Rush Limbaugh never had anything to do with any peace accords or major international political resolutions, you fucking dolt.If he freed Tibet or ended Nuclear Proliferation, then sure, give it to him. What has he done aside from be a pundit and influence one side of the political spectrum?[Edited on February 2, 2007 at 1:07 AM. Reason : .]
2/2/2007 1:06:24 AM
I didn't realize you could get a Nobel Peace Prize for sitting on your ass all day. I thought you actually had to do something. Silly me.[Edited on February 2, 2007 at 1:12 AM. Reason : sdf]
2/2/2007 1:12:13 AM
well he is pro freedomi think some of you guys might be forgetting this little miniscule detail though...arafat was a terroristim definitely arguing more that arafat should never have gotten one than i am that rush should[Edited on February 2, 2007 at 1:17 AM. Reason : 'is' to 'was' since hes dead]hell gahndi never won a peace prize but arafat did?[Edited on February 2, 2007 at 1:22 AM. Reason : .]
2/2/2007 1:12:21 AM
yes, the peace prize has become politicized. and in that sense it's not as meaningful as it should be.but when some group of right wing wackjob advocates nominate a pathetic troll like Limbaugh, well then they're just making it into one huge joke. And Arafat has done far more to both facilitate regional peace in the middle east (recently), and damage peace in the middle east (longer ago) than Rush Limbaugh could ever comprehend. Arafat is a major world leader who, peace prize or not, will go down in all the world history books as an important and influential man.Rush Limbaugh will go briefly fizzle in american late-night cable tv history with some "best of" DVDs.... Perhaps. and maybe a "Popular entertainers: where are they now" special on A&E at some point. Hecklers dont make the history books.

Anyone can be nominated, but not anyone can nominate. There are a list of approved people and groups who can nominate, and it is different for every Prize. Basically there are Nobel groups and committees who nominate, and then the others who can nominate are pretty much broken into two groups: university presidents/organizations & associations within a country that deal with that discipline. For example, in the Peace category those associations are any foreign policy institutes within a country. I guess that is where the Landmark Legal Foundation falls. In reality though, it's not that hard at all to get nominated. Most of the people who win have been nominated a bunch of times. Jane Addams was nominated something like 90 times in 20 years before she finally won.
