http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/conditions/01/31/herpes.wrestlers.reut/index.htmlthat sucks. I coach high school wrestling, and apparently mat herpes is hard to miss when you check a kids skin. I would fire the refs that let the kids with that shit wrestle in the first place to spread it.

do guys ever get checked for rashes/things like that before they're allowed to go out there? i don't have any idea really about how that works as far as wrestling goes

I assume they have to have a sports physical, but a doctor wouldn't know about HSV infection unless there were active lesions.

they strip down to their skivvies before every match when they weigh in, and the referee checks them for skin rashes, infections, etc, as well as making sure their hair and nails are trimmed, and they are clean shaven.

ah, whatever happened to just calling it ringworm...I had that crap twice from wrestling back in HS, no fun at all. Sidelined me my first year for a month

Ringworm is a fungus. Herpes is a virus.

herpes is mother fucking herpes. you get it once and you have it for life. it is not ringworm.

pardon my mistake, just got confused from being told i had "herpes on my chest" back then XD

Haha I remember when about 3/4 of the wrestling team at my HS got herpes my senior year. A substantial chunk of the wrestlers in the Forsyth/Guilford county area came down with it.
