I have a crap e-machines computer and I am fixing for my little brother. I am not sure what he has done to it, but It will not turn on. I have checked the power supply, motherboard battery, and have attempted to boot it just to the bios prompt, with all drives disconnected. Any suggestions?

if you had a power surge, unplug it from the wall and plug it back in... hmmm... it might be your motherboard. Look for burned or heated up spots[Edited on February 1, 2007 at 12:16 AM. Reason : motherboard]

pinch a loaf in the case, close it back up, return it to him and tell him you refuse to work on a computer that smells so bad

^I thought pinching a loaf meant you really have to take a dump but for whatever reason you don't.

Yeah, I looked that up shortly after posting just to verify. You learn something every day.[Edited on February 1, 2007 at 9:51 AM. Reason : -]

I can't see that anything has been fried. Nothing turns on when I press the power button.

You need to go through what you've tried, step by step, and detail exactly what you did and how the computer responded if you expect anyone to help you. You've posted absolutely nothing of value and all we know right now is that your computer is broken and you poked at some shit with, presumably, a screwdriver. How did you "check" the power supply? What did you find?[Edited on February 1, 2007 at 10:51 AM. Reason : .]

Say that to my face and we'll see what happens. I have not had time to do anything other than swap the power supply into a working computer, where I did not see a problem powering on and booting. Anyway, all you did was shit on this thread.Thread closed
