Why can I not find a thread for this?

because whoever is running the thing this year has nowhere near the organization and dedication as last year...
2/4/2007 1:43:55 AM
was brice doing it last year?
2/4/2007 2:01:47 AM
Yeah, the turnout was like 1/2 x what it was last year. Not that I'm trying to rag on them or anything. It's still for a good cause and all, people just wern't crazy enough about it this year.

has it already happened?
2/4/2007 9:58:22 AM
Yes, it just finished 7pm yesterday.

http://www.ncsu.edu/stud_orgs/dance_marathon/However, the *official* website does say the 3rd and the 4th, which is blatantly wrong (it was the 2nd and 3rd). It is not going on right now, it finished, never mind what the website says.I saw organizers there who were dancing around and were clearly dedicated to the cause, but really, how much success can you validly expect when WEBSITE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE THE RIGHT DATES?!Did people like wear themselves for the KKC this year or something? Thought the children's hospital already got enough money from us?

i think calling it Pack-a-thon was a poor choice. Some people who may have wanted to do "Dance marathon" were waiting to hear when it was. It was not well publicized that the name had changed. And even the new name didn't indicate what it was. A new freshman who saw a headline for it in the paper or on brickyard, may have mistakenly believed it was for something else, not a 24 hour dance/fun fest.

oooooh kayhttp://www.packathon.org/This is the actual website. See, I knew nothing about the NAME pack-a-thon. People would say something like "you're here for pack-a-thon" and I'd be like "yeah I'm here for Dance Marathon."It wasn't even registering in my mind. And add on top that I really didn't see any advertising or publicity at all... They really should have deleted the DM site and pointed to the new one. I wasn't the ONLY one who mistook the dates. Seriously. In fact, I had just about registered for last year's event.

Oops.

Congratulations to Pack-a-thon who raised $7,000 for NC Children's Hospital. That's quite a significant amount since only half the amount of people showed up as last year. When added to the $10,000 Krispy Kreme Challenge raised last week, the NC Children's Hospital will be receiving $17,000 from NCSU students.

technician said that dance marathon raised $13,000+
2/5/2007 1:27:52 PM
it is my understanding that $6,000 of that $13,000 was money that the Krispy Kreme Challenge still had left in the Pack a Thon account (we share bank accounts still)...

Even if they included KKC figures from last year, it was like 5x as successful this year.
