I have Dr. Warren for 201 and I can't get him to re-send me the chapter 2 e-mail w/ all the dilution handouts. Anyone in that class willing to forward me his e-mail w/ attachments?

will it ever end

Has he given you a reason why he won't re-send you the information?
1/29/2007 3:42:51 PM
no. I e-mailed him 2x in the last week and he just responds where the file can be found...on his e-mail...which I didn't recieve.
1/29/2007 7:59:24 PM
Did you bother to tell him that, instead of running to TWW?

What appears to be missing from this discussion are:(1) on the first day of class, the importance of having an email client, preferrably one's unity account, as the active address for wolfware course mailings was emphasized. It was pointed out that difficulties have been experienced in the past with free mail clients such as hotmail etc. Incidentally, these files are simply word documents with embedded equations - nothing fancy. (2) The following email was sent this morning to the class: "I cannot continue to send individualized emails to students who do not receive files. It is the responsibility of the student to have a working email address capable of receiving/opening word document enclosures. Should you have problems with the unity account, please contact the computer help desk at 515.4357. One uses a "free host" or other email client at their own risk. My suggestion for those missing files is to contact a classmate; lab partner; or go by SI and/or tutorial center to make copies."It might be noted that perhaps twenty of so of these mailings go out each semester to over 400 students. There is simply insufficient time to be sending individualized repeat mailings to this large a body of students for that many potential occurrances. I do so only up through the add deadline for those students who late add the course.I am certain that Ms. MeatStick can find copies from one of the some four hundred of her current peers or the Lord-knows-how-many CH 201 veterans/survivors about campus.

why not put all the equation documents into a course locker and never have to e-mail students again?
1/30/2007 10:45:40 AM
EEEERRRRROOOWWWNNNN-KSSSHHHHHGod but I do hate student lockers. Loading Vista takes forever on my dialup.
1/30/2007 12:19:22 PM
because 99% of ncsu students use dialup

i suppose you have to cater to the lowest common denominator, thoughwhich more often than not is cddweller

Thanks for the advice...however I requested the files from him a week before he sent that e-mail. I also have my name linked to my UNITY account. Stupidly, all the people I asked in my lab had someone else and it took me a week to track down someone who was taking Warren. Thanks for all those who PMed me, I'm grateful.

...if your unity email is what's given to the professors...and you aren't getting emails from them...don't you think you ought to look into the matter?
1/31/2007 9:57:28 AM
The problem has thus been fixed. E-mail works, got all the files, and I've learned not to ask questions on TWW if I don't want smartass answeres now and then.Oh well.
1/31/2007 2:14:57 PM
god forbid a professor has to resend an email for a student. this takes less than 10 seconds to do.

Some professors have had success storing their syllabus, class schedule, and homework questions (along with notes, old or blank tests, and other study materials) as course reserves on the library's website. It might be something to consider for huge classes where e-mail is unreliable.

Firstly, I didn't intend to *own* anyone here; it was important, however, to assert that I have addressed the issue of these files and their receipt from the first day of class.I understand that email may not be the most efficient means of conveying this sort of information. I suppose I could finance a summer vacation to the Loire Valley by charging students for a course pack. More seriously, however, the reason that I prefer sending the weekly or biweekly emails is that it provides me an opportunity to "check in" with the classes ... a reminder if you will. Also, I can include any comments on lecture that might be needed for clarification in the body of the email. In a nutshell, sending the files periodically keeps me in touch. I'd like to think that this is more "affective" than simply providing a storehouse of help files on some remote site.Of course, it could be simply another evil machination of the devil reincarnated.

I don't see why anyone has to be so nasty on here. It was a simple question, and I hate how everyone assumes I just ran to Dr. Warren 1st thing. I ASKED people to send me the files, but unfortunately I apparently pick people who didn't make this 1st priority and hence, I turned to e-mailing Dr. Warren. I then eventually found someone in my lab to send me the files and had my webmail thing glitched.I didn't recieve any of Dr. Warren's apparent e-mail as listed by Gazoo since I haven't been getting Dr. Warren's e-mails before. So sorry to ask a simple question, guys, but I don't see why it had to be answered so nastily.
1/31/2007 9:00:35 PM
Eh, we're idle and need an ego boost.Good luck with the class, make an A for me.
1/31/2007 9:29:39 PM
^^ get the MeatStick out of your ass... none of the responses have been "nasty". and it seems like you don't realize that GreatGazoo is Dr Warrentoo bad more professors don't actively post in Study Hall.
1/31/2007 9:55:17 PM
They do.
1/31/2007 10:38:47 PM
Wow, nice little play on my SN there. Hope you didn't have to think that one over too hard. And YES. I get it, it's Dr. Warren. I kind of figure that out when he spoke about himself in 1st person. I'm sucky at chemistry, not general english.
