i've got a slim jim you can borrow though.

if worse comes to worse, take your VIN number to the honda dealership monday and get a key cut for it. you might need some sort of proof of ownership, but not usually.

yeah, i'll give it a try if you can't find anyone else. no promises though, i've never done a honda.

it would take longer than 30min. by the time someone picked you up, drove out there, and did it. gas ain't cheap either.

going to the dealer monday is really your best bet to guarantee you get in. plus you prevent the chance of scratching the window glass. unless you HAVE to have it before then.

Nerdchick is broke. if she had a car with side impact air bags it would be a newer model, if it was a newer model u would be a n00b not to have full coverage. if u had full coverage u should have AAA if u have AAA just call the fuckers up.

no so im guessing she drives a shitty civic that she brags about the gas mileage on and will pay you 10 dollars in nickels and dimes that she will have to fish out of aforementioned nasty ass civic.

This isn't that easy of a car to slim jim because it has the new style lock cylinders on the door that will not rotate on the backside unless you have the key in the cylinder. Older styles would rotate on the backside. It's supposed to be an attempt at theft-proofing it.

Most slim jim attempts will pop the striking rod off of the lock cylinder, and if you're lucky it won't break the plastic clip that keeps it on there.

I can slim jim it, but it might render the lock temporarily useless, at least until me or somebody else takes the door panel off and puts it back on. Not a hard job to do, really, but not totally effortless. You'd have to go in through the passenger door if you want to lock your doors. It's not guaranteed that it will yank the rod off the lock cylinder, but the possibility is overwhelmingly there.

easiest way i have found over the years on damn near all vehicles is a wedge in the top corner and a long rod to unlock manual doors or hit the power unlock button

yeah. something wedged into the door frame or window and a coat hanger or other stiff wire does work nice. just gotta be careful with the window frameless doors.

vent windows on first gen. troopers are the best. just bang on them lightly with your fist, and the latch works its way down. all 3 i've had did it.

ive got one of those long rods and inflatable bags that prys the door back. its sucsesful on a lot of cars. but im not in raleigh until tuesday

^ that's actually what the guy did. Apparantly the car's previous owner was a forgetful fellow, because the molding was separated from the window on the passenger side from previous unlockings. The slim jim didn't work because of it, so the guy pried the door open and used a rod to pull the lock tab.

But yeah I got into my car!!! Yay.

what i've found is that on some cars, you could damage the sensor/wiring, not deploy the airbag. so that you'd be in trouble later.

depends on whether the are true side impact bags or head curtains, the cts's have them in the doors with the stupid looking high windows

yeah, just about every side impact car ive worked on, the airbags are in the seats. havnt seen one in the door yet.

seen plenty with curtain airbags.

we accidentally blew a side certain airbag in a sienna one time trying to tap on the door jam molding. talk about a loud and crazy bust.

no, as far as i know all newer cars with the anti theft cylinders are the same on both sides.

they just reverse the cylinder operation, like any car.

plus, it wouldn't make much sense to do it driver only.

oh. that's a little more specific question to that car and i don't know for sure, but common sense would tell me the same danger is there. no car i've ever worked on has different linkages side to side.

so, it would make more sense to take a chance on the passenger side.
