I'm holding it down in Florida now and I'm about to start a new job. I don't want to pay North Carolina income tax anymore as you might imagine. What steps do you take to change?

youll still have to pay state income tax on any income you recieve where your perm. address is listed as an nc address.

hence, change your address with your employer.

if you had 2006 income in nc, you are still responsible, you may just have to pay for 2 states.

I finally got mine changed from NC to TX, not only the taxes(Texas doesnt have State income tax) but also the locality pay was higher. The place I work for would of kept it NC had i not told them to change it. That is all I had to do.

My first check after that was changed was about $150 higher

I've already filed my 2006 in NC. So I suppose I just need to make sure my new employer has me listed for Delray Beach.

make sure HR/payroll do, they changed my address, but since i work for the feds, they kept my duty station in NC. Yours should be simplier. Also, I got a speeding ticket at Delray Beach.....I stayed at "Wright by the Sea" for about 3 months last year.

You'll have to file for both this time around. I had to do Georgia and NC taxes when I first moved here.

My residence is in VA, but my job is in NC. So far as I know (and I'll find out this week), I'm required to pay NC income tax, not VA. I wanted VA because its lower. There shouldn't be anything extra you have to do on your behalf other than filling out paperwork at your employer. That being said, check with them for specifics / an exact answer.
