we played houston in a re-match to begin the 83-84 season? we beat them 76-64 with Spud Webb as the games MVP with 18 points, five assists, four rebounds, and three steals. in all my years of being a huge college basketball/nc state fan, i had never heard of this before i read this article from the 83-84 college basketball preview from that years SI (the one with Jordan and Perkins on the cover).

I actually did not know that .. what did Houston lose after that season ? I'd be interested to see how similar the teams were

i THINK they lost drexler but still had Olajuwon (Olajuwon was the 1st pick in the 84 draft)

the only player the article mentions as a leftover from Houston is Olajuwon with Cozell McQuuen and Lorenzo Charles as the only leftovers from our team it mentions.

Thats the same score they had with the win vs. Marquette for the national championship in '74


was the houston game in 83-84 an away or home game? none of the stat sites I see say.

it was played as part of the "Hall Of Fame Tip-Off Classic" in Springfield, MA.

not sure, although SI's preseason rankings in that issue has them as #3 and we're unranked
