I have a 97 Camaro SS and I need new tires. My budget is $500 for 4 tires. I was hoping you could suggest what I should get and where around the Raleigh area I should get them. Thanks

only slightly over budgetthose are reeeeally good tires for the money
1/24/2007 10:53:06 PM
what size 17s? do you realize this is a very exact science?
Im not an expert so no i do not realize the exact science to it. My first set of tires were BF Goodrich Comp TAs Zr rated that were 17s and i believe 9 inches wide which just barely rubbed the wheel well if you turned the steering wheel all the way. Right now i have some types of eagles I believe that were recommended by a salesman since the comp TAs went out of production and they were cheaper. I can go a little over 500 if I have to but prefer to come in under it.

There is no way you will find a better tire than the Kumho MX for ~500
1/24/2007 11:07:18 PM
Jimmie you freakin idiot. At least know the tire size. ITS WRITTEN ON THE SIDEWALL OF YOUR TIRE. And you're gonna be hard pressed to find a set for less than $500. And you can get 16" tires if you want, but they won't fit on your 17" wheels, LOL.

No only 1 set, in my stupidity i didnt consider the fact that I would need new rims for 16s. My bad so only 17s.
1/25/2007 12:16:57 AM
the cheapest would be some used tires.a lot of shops would have them.you can get them for probably $30 a pop
1/25/2007 12:20:09 AM
I can mount and balance where I work. I cut deals as well.

I cant recall the site but someone on here suggested it to me.. i got 4 toyo proxes 4s for like $69 a wheel... that would easily fit the bill... good all season tire with a good tread pattern. Maybe not the kinda tire you want but its a good daily driver.

Yeah i realized that so I asked my parents to chip in and my new budget is 650. I think I am going to go with the Kumho ECSTA ASX from Tire rack for 107 a piece. I'm going to order them Monday. If you have any thoughts on better tires for 275/40/17s let me know before then.
