I was wondering if anybody here has had a SAS internship. I'm a stats major looking for summer work and wanted to know when you start appying for them there. So far, I've yet to seeing any internships available on their website. Thanks in advance.

I've interned at SAS for the past two summers. Just check their website every day, and they'll start popping up soon. When they do appear, don't be afraid to apply for several. Last summer, I interviewed with four different departments until I found one that I liked.

Talk to your academic advisor about doing an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates). If you've had ST302 and ST445, they can probably work you into 75% of the REUs offered ... and there are a TON of them out there. Pay and hours usually are fairly good.

Oh, and its too early for them to hire for summer. March / early April is when you'll see a ton of postings go up. Keep in mind, they probably receive 100+ resumes for each position. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

i did the unpaid internship that they have posted every year on epack last summer. great experience cause u work on a real project that will effect sas. it takes up half my resume and every place i have an interview, they look at it and go wow. so if money isnt a problem and u seriously want the experience, go for that. the managers name is scott vanvalkenburgh. usually hires bout 8. but he looks for culturally diverse people, so then again ur really fighting for 1 or 2 spots, depending on who u are.

^i was in the same program with hani. i actually had a recruiter call me today and try to place me in two different jobs (cali and chitown) shortly after talking about my experience (which is sas heavy).

the internship hani is talking about is very tough, but great "real world" experience. there are lots of really awesome people at sas and you won't regret working there. i had a part time job on the side working from home to keep some cash coming in, but it was a very good decision in the long run. if you see an internship that mentions scott van valkenburg, heath clayton, or tom everly...GET ON IT QUICK...they are three of the best people i've met and they happen to be managers of some of the intern projects.

the project we worked on is now the #2 WORLDWIDE priority for sas...so hard work will spread throughout the company and involve other internal business units.

I worked for Scott. Pretty cool guy. Sucks to be unpaid but it does help out on the resume and you get to meet lots of big wigs.....vp's, mr goodnight...
