For those of you who are interested in shows that aren't "Family Friendly", you can check out the 10:30 shows on Friday and Saturday night for FREE (at least for now, in the future there may be a small admission fee). And otherwise, the "Whose Line"-esque shows at 8:30 Friday and Saturday nights are $10 for adults, $8 for those with college id, and 6$ for those under 12.

I go a lot and know people that work there. On Sat they have a 4:30 and 8:30 show, the first is $6 and the latter is $10. Don't go to the first unless you have kids. The 10:30 show is free for now, but is VERY different from the normal thing, more like theatre. If you go to the website it has more detail: comedyworx.com

In the next few months a sketch comedy - very non-family friendsly show will be starting up. This is non-improv... i think it will be late fri or sat showings. I'm helping write and also an actor with it. Don't know much more about it though, in the initial rehearsal stages. So far, some funny sketches though.

or the fact that most family oriented comedy aspires to be on par with ray romano

Doesn't NCSU's improv comedy troupe perform there?(Forgot their name )

Despite the fact that I am no longer affiliated with them, there are also funny-ass people doing distinctly non-Whose Line?-style improv (as well as a little of the Whose Line? stuff) at the DSI Comedy Theater in Carrboro.http://www.dsicomedytheater.com

If you like improv comedy (as mentioned, Whose Line Is it Anyways type style), it is worth going to at least once. Clean shows can be extremely funny if the audience is into it and give out good suggestions.

Corey Brown is a funny motherfucker.

DSI is like deep in UNC country though...

Well Carrboro isn't exactly Chapel Hill, but yeah, its pretty close.
1/25/2007 9:22:22 AM
Carrboro is actually worse than Chapel hill.bunch of fucking smelly hippies. The only thing wrong with Chapel hill is that UNC is there.

The CIA, NC State's improv troupe, used to perform there, but now we do most of our shows on-campus either at Stewart or Witherspoon.CW is great, but college kids probably wanna go to the night shows (either 8:30 or 10:30). If you like Whose Line?-style stuff, come out to the 8:30 show or 4:45 show(and maybe you'll see me!).Support Raleigh. Support CW.[Edited on January 25, 2007 at 12:00 PM. Reason : .]

^^Yeah...very much so, except I like that food market place.

Chapel Hill & Carrboro really are basically the same place. From what I read online, they started out as the same place, just with 2 main centers. The campus, and the railroad set about 1 mile west of the campus so as not to be a disturbance, and eventually the West End of chapel hill was renamed Carrboro (although there are still some places in the area that bare the name west end). But, other than happening to be our rival school, its still a college town, with an active music/arts scene, inside our state, so I like the area.

Comedy Worx is great. I went there several times when I was a student. It was funny every time. And the student discounts are nice.
