ok, found an old shotgun as i was helping clean a vacant house.

would it be possible for me to contact a firearms dealer and give them a serial number and make sure that there are no problems associated with the gun?

other ideas on how to handle this?

the manufacturer isnt going to know if the gun has any problems based on serial number

you could however get an idea of the age of the gun

and all the cops are going to know based on a serial number was if the gun was bought legally and still owned legally, or if was stolen at some point

by problems i meant if the gun were stolen, registered, legal, etc

The cops can run it to make sure nothing illegal is going on, but if it was me, I'd keep it. As long as you don't shoot anyone with it, no one's the wiser.

not a felony if you don't get caught.

bury it or hide it in a safe place - only for use when its time for the revolution

when the gov. comes to our houses to confiscate our guns we'll need unregistered weapons for self defense

power to the people!

in case you have a real ass, chamber a shell as long as the gun will take, be that 2.34/3 inch, ect, then make sure the barrel is long enough form the front of the shell. Some of the cocksuckers will use this method to try and fuck you over. And even a legal gun is damn hard tog et back in one piece once they sieze it as 'evidence'

The way ATF measures barrel is to close the action, put a cleaning rod down the muzzle to to breech face and mark the rod, then measure to the mark. anything else is bullshit, and stupid if you are using a live round. how many cops carry dummies? keep an extra half an inch on there so its plainly obvious if you cut it down


Id call a dealer, and let them call the popo, if its hot they will want it on the spot, since its stolen property.

on a similar note, instead of starting a new thread.

We found a gun at my great Grandfather's house after he died a couple years ago. It looks to be from World War I time period. It has 1911 stamped in it, either a model number or possible model year or something like that. It also appears to have a name on it in Italian that none of my family can understand. How would one go about identifying this gun? We've tried internet stuff, but none of it seems to provide any results...... any ideas???

1911 is also a model of springfield armory guns.

Well, don't confuse the original Springfield Armory founded by George Washington, for the new Armory of the same name.

More specifically, they are dirt cheap handguns that may or may not fire and may or may not blow up in your hand.

As far as the "if it's hot the police are going to confiscate it" comments I've got to say that if it's hot you should want the police to confiscate it. If someone stole your shit you would hope that it might be returned one day too.

Sounds like a 1903 Springfield, is it a bolt action rifle or semi auto? Could be an MLE, could be a lot of things.

TreeTwista10, Barretts are nice, but if you just want a .50 rifle to fuck around with, there are a lot of cheaper (and equally accurate) bolt-action single-shot and magazine-fed options out there.

Nope, definitely not. Plenty of the bolt-actions go down into fractional MOA range, but the M82 is only a ~1MOA gun. Which is plenty accurate, considering that it's primarily an anti-materiel rifle.

Accuracy Intl is testing the AS 50 for release. Futureweapons covered it a week or so ago, which I thought was odd, considering most of their 'future' weapons are just shit nobody knew about that's been out for years, like the MP7 PDW.

I used to have a Barrett model 95 (bolt w/ a mag) kick is about that of a 12ga. with slugs is the closest I can compare it to. very big, very heavy, ungainly. mine was around 25-26 lbs loaded with scope. great if you have to make an accurate 1 mile kill shot. since I don't and never will have to do that, I sold it. got an older Robar .308 QR2 with a folding stock. not really in the same realm, but much better suited to my needs

There is a dated proof mark on the bottom front of the slide but it's not part of the sn.
