my stepdad bought an '89 caddie a few months back and has yet to figured out how to set the stations or the clock. I took a look at it, but there doesn't seem to be an obvious wayMy family previously had a '91 caddie and its radio looked quite a bit like this one, only it had designated set buttons which this one is missing. The manual says to use buttons that are not on the radio to set the stations and time. Holding the button to set a station does not workany ideas?

idk. the radio in my 87 caprice is almost identical, cept. it has a little set button to the right of the seek button. try finding the model number for the radio and googling it to find a manual. or go to a caddie dealership. they should be able to helpu said pressing in a button and holding it for like 5 seconds til the music cuts out and comes back doesn't work.u might be able to get a different radio (one that makes more sense) that would fit in an 89 caddie on ebay or at a boneyard dirt cheap

does the station buttons pull out?the caprice i had did that.sometimes you can either press scan or seek and one of the setting buttons.

I dont think the buttons were designed to tell the difference between a push and a push and holdso if I push and hold scan / seek it changes the station, which makes it hard to set a stationpushing the bottom round button changes am/fm, pushing the top one displays the station, turning the bottom changes stations and the top is volume, turn all the way to the left and it turns off the radioI tried to gently pull out the round buttons, but it didnt budgeMy stepdad said he'd rather just live with the inconvenience than go to a caddie dealer and pay a 60 odd 'diagnostic' fee to set the radio

when the key is off if you push the volume button in the clock should show, then use the other buttons (try em all) to set the timeOR remove the battery cable at 11:59, then install it one minute later.

^^ tried that, when you hold the station button down and turn the knob it just stays on that station and the display flickers a little^I thought about pulling the battery cable, if it cant be figured out thats probably what he'll dotried about all the button combos I could think of, no go. I know he's also been trying to get it to work I think he did mention getting XM radio.

my parents had a chevy celebrity a long time ago with a similar looking stereo, you had to pull the station button out to set the station. give that a shot since its all GM and probably very similar stereos.
