hahahahaha, awesome
1/19/2007 1:06:39 AM
Georges Laraque is one of my favorite players
1/19/2007 1:08:23 AM
Haha, that is pretty awesome. I like how he wished good luck to someone who was going to try to beat his face in. [Edited on January 19, 2007 at 1:08 AM. Reason : .]

It's not that I don't understand why there's fighting in hockey.I don't understand why a lot of hockey fans call NBA players thugs, when there's 5000% more thuggish behavior in their sport.
1/19/2007 1:11:21 AM
why do they fight?
1/19/2007 1:12:45 AM
^^Because brawls in basketball don't follow any decorum.
1/19/2007 1:13:43 AM
^^^ Because they agreed to fight instead of throwing a punch and then running away, they're thuggish?[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 1:15 AM. Reason : 3]
1/19/2007 1:15:21 AM
Because hockey players are white boys from surburbia.and the majority of ballers a black boys from the inner cities.White people can do no harm.

1/19/2007 1:17:49 AM
It really is the biggest double standard in sports. I struggle to understand it. It appears as if they are "glorified" by the fighting, as the commentators joke about having good dialogue from one of the mic'd up fighters. In baskettball, the players are demonized and fined.
1/19/2007 1:20:41 AM
b/c those are the rules in hockey. They have pads, they hit each other up against walls and can check each other. Those are the RULES! Where in the basketball rule book does it say you can check a guy up against the scorers stand or as hes coming down court just deck him??? No where, get outta here with that racist bullshit
1/19/2007 1:21:38 AM
The announcers were surprised that they got it on tape and that Georges wished him good luck. Panger knows as well as anyone that there is proposal and agreement involved in almost every fight. Since the instigator rule (hockey's worst rule, btw) was put in place, I'd say less than 10% of fights involve one guy going after another and giving him no choice (see Jason Doig, 2004). While it's true that it's usually not that civil, it usually IS that civil between guys who fight for a living.
1/19/2007 1:23:02 AM
there are no rules in hockey that say "fight".
1/19/2007 1:24:31 AM
there's a thing called tradition in sportshere's another traditionwhat other professional sport do you see teams line up after a defining playoff series game to shake hands sending the winning team to the next round

I will never forget that game
1/19/2007 1:51:15 AM
best fighting ive ever seen, glad to be a red wings fan and have seen that live in detroit
1/19/2007 1:53:43 AM
I love it so very much when Roy comes flying in. LOVE IT.Now I need to find the next game, when the wingers switched sides on the opening faceoff of the game in order to fight as soon as the puck dropped.
1/19/2007 1:53:46 AM
is that the guy who got kicked out of the game last year in the playoffs for knocking brind'amours helmet off with his stick? haha i don't remember if thats exactly what happened but im thinking it was.
1/19/2007 1:56:50 AM
I have no idea what you're talking about.
1/19/2007 1:58:09 AM
^^It was a hit on Ladd and he just got a game misconduct. Nothing more, nothing less.
1/19/2007 2:08:59 AM
ahh whoops. thanks for clearing that up
1/19/2007 2:10:23 AM
rare awesome.
1/19/2007 2:18:49 AM
rare awesome? Here's the clip of Lemieux/McCarty I was talking about:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUVBts1_KJoIt's obvious that they're having a cordial conversation...the thing with Laraque was just a matter of getting it on tape.[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 2:27 AM. Reason : 3]

^ haha as long as you mean hockey isn't full of that, you are every bit rightits funny, if you sit up close to the glass, if you ever get to see a fight, sometimes they'll just be smiling the whole time they are fighting..at least it happened once i mean[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 12:29 PM. 1/19/2007 12:27:41 PM
i HATE how they never let them fight at the rbc center
1/19/2007 12:45:58 PM
^^^^ Most of those things were one time incidents, due to 2 or 3 retards. And I guess if you want to pretend that all hockey players are faithful to their wives and never use any illegal substances, that's up to you I guess. And I don't pretend that this is just about Hockey either, baseball gets a pass on thuggish behavior in the media too.[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 1:31 PM. ^maybe they do, but the arent so blatant about it, thats why the NBA gets bad press, because in comparisons of players in different leagues, the nba has more negative shit going on with the players such as drug, weapons charges, bastard kids, etc etc etc; and the players dont seem to try and hide it, they are so wrapped up in their own ego they think they are untouchable, and gods gift to basketball, just a bunch of arrogant pieces of shit.
1/19/2007 4:42:43 PM
^ valid again and ^^^ they do occasionally, but yeah they stop it most of the time
1/19/2007 4:51:53 PM
^^wrong again, you guys are leaving out the fact that NBA viewer ratings are higher than bothhockey and baseball. So everything these guys do is under the microscope!! So stop making it seem like NBA guys are the worst bunch. When Wayne Gretzky fuckin wife is doin illegal shitthen you know something has to be wrong!! But how quickly did the public forget about that?Bunch of one-sided idiots you guys are.Dammit100 your racism exceeds you.[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 5:18 PM. Reason : /]
1/19/2007 5:17:07 PM
how do ratings compare to what we're talking about. Just because more people watch basketball doesn't mean that's why we hearabout it mre. We hear about it mroe because they do more shit....i.e.. I hate nascar, but I think it's the most watched "event" (it's not a sport)... I don't see Nascar drivers all up in the bad news. [Edited on January 19, 2007 at 5:24 PM. Reason : k]

Fighting is more acceptable in hockey cause it's a more blue collar sport. It's like football, it's expected to be physical. If a basketball game is physical, it's a very ugly game cause then you have a foul called by the ref every trip down the floor and we're then treated to the hilarious nonsense that is Shaquille O'Neal attempting a 15-footer.That's one reason the excessive penalty calling in the past couple years by the NHL sucks. Let the boys play!
1/19/2007 5:28:47 PM
Then why not let football players fight?the bball comparison is null!

1/19/2007 5:37:19 PM
Okay, i agree hockey players = angels they do no wrong, they treat their wives perfect and all are model citizens.we can let them fight on television and talk about how awesome it is!!when fball players do it, they're thugs and drug dealers.(both are contact sports)One involves more white people, the other more black people.[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 5:43 PM.
