just had the 6 MB/s package installed, but when opening webpages it takes at least 10 seconds or so to load. Once in the website its fine, but pulling it up is the problem.

anyone else have this issue? any resolutions? ive searched and found some info that i thought would be helpful, but turned out to be more confusing.

im not a computer retard, but not bill gates either. any advice would be helpful

btw; have tried release/renew ip, restarts and power down etc...

one interesting note: when repairing ip, it cannot clear ARPcach. i can do it through cmd prompt tho.

kinda sounds like a DNS resolution problem. just for fun, you might want to try changing the DNS servers your computer is using. i've been using DNS servers from opendns.org with good results and generally faster performance when initially trying to connect to various sites.

When I was having similar problems with my embarq DSL a few months ago, I used this tool to narrow down where the latency was.

The majority of my problems were with gaming, but I also had browsing issues like you are describing. Turns out the routing infrastructure (for lack of a more accurate term) for the first hop out of the embarq network was causing huge latency during peak hours. After doing some research, I had found out that Embarq was essentially overselling their bandwidth and it showed up during the peak hours.


Just something to try out.
