i have a 9-in-1 preload cd thats got SP2 integrated, as long as you know which version you will need for your license. I can send it over to you if you dont mind waiting out the 40kbps speeds.

^^its an XP pro license, is that what you mean by 'version?' also boot camp says it has to be all loaded on one disc.

You can make your own SP2 install disc from a pre-SP2 disc. Google slipstreaming.

Each version of windows has OEM, Corporate and Retail versions. So you'd need to know which you have (almost guaranteed a retail key, if you bought an off the shelf boxed copy)

Do they make different keys for different OEMs?

Like will an IBM specific key work on a Dell machine? Or does the OEM version cover all OEMs?

its a boxed version that my mom bought for me long time ago from Microsoft's employee store in Seattle. they gave her $100 voucher to buy what she wants at cost so she got XP for $30 (non upgrade). Do you think thats the same as boxed retail version? It came in the same identical box as any other store copy...and i don't see anything on the licencse folder that the cd's came in that says otherwise.

^ yes, it's a boxed retail version.

[Edited on January 18, 2007 at 11:30 AM. Reason : I have a copy that came much the same way.]

IBM/Dell et al use Corporate keys. OEM keys are sold to small system integrators who buy single licenses, or small licenses bundles to tie to a machine/machines.

^^Yea you definitely have the Retail. OEM version comes as a CD+License card+Tiny Manual blister wrapper.

I've got an XP SP2 disc. I'll put an image up for you to d/l if you're interested. I'm on resnet, so speed isn't an issue.

[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 11:06 AM. Reason : Yes, it's a legit image from a real disc]
