Is anybody on here going?
1/16/2007 7:40:14 PM
Only if it somehow ends up in a snuff film
1/16/2007 7:42:13 PM
im PRO-WAR so i doubt it.
1/16/2007 7:45:05 PM
I'm no peacenikbut fuck the Iraq war
1/16/2007 7:46:41 PM
These things are always so embarrassing. How will a bunch of creepy people chanting on the sidewalk affect the debate on the war?
1/16/2007 7:56:56 PM
ask Martin Luther King Jr
1/16/2007 8:03:37 PM
I thought he died
1/16/2007 8:09:20 PM
yeah he didI guess I'll answera lot of people in one place for a purpose has several effectsit raises general awareness regarding an issue and may sway decisionsmedia coverage can put pressure on various organizations and individuals to make decisions in order to appease public opinionthere can be an economic impact as well... enough people in the right place can paralyze business
1/16/2007 8:11:53 PM
It's not even the same situation. If a bunch of troops protested in front of Ft Bragg, that would be similar. I don't see how a bunch of college kids and aging hippie douches are supposed to sway anyone's opinion.
1/16/2007 8:11:58 PM
I'm not trying to sway your opinionyou seem to have your mind made upbut maybe, if we're lucky, some unruly kids at the protest will destroy the property of someone like you
1/16/2007 8:13:11 PM
Whose business/evil corporation are a bunch of unemployed latter day hippies and poor students going to paralyze?
1/16/2007 8:13:27 PM
1/16/2007 8:15:00 PM
stop traffic on a major road for 6 hours and see how much it costs businessI said I wasn't a peacenik[Edited on January 16, 2007 at 8:17 PM. Reason : I suppose you would advocate using violence on a peace march. how fascist of you!]
1/16/2007 8:15:44 PM
Never said you were a peacenik. I think it's funny that on one hand you're going to a peace march to protest the war but on the other hand you advocate using violence against those whose views differ from your own.
1/16/2007 8:18:02 PM
how about instead of protesting the war you fuckers have a support the troops rally.
1/16/2007 8:19:30 PM
fuck the Iraq warit is diverting resources from Afghanistanwhere we should be hunting down and annihilating the Taliban - send them to a Hell I don't believe in
1/16/2007 8:19:44 PM
I'm totally against this war. That's why these things are so embarrassing for me.
1/16/2007 8:20:20 PM
Aww, it's sweet that you're tying to put words in my mouth pooky, just because you support violence and I happen to disagree with your views doesn't make me a fascist (hello, 1968 wants its insult back). I happen to respect your freedom of speech and right to peacefully assembly, no matter how stupid I think you might be.
1/16/2007 8:20:28 PM
1/16/2007 8:36:10 PM
If you don't like the war so much why don't you join the military and go fight in the war so there will be more soldiers and therefore it will end quickerThat is, if you really want to see the war end]
1/16/2007 8:44:05 PM
1/16/2007 9:24:14 PM
well its agreedwe all feel totally assured of the other's stupidityI'm going to go do something betterpeace man
1/16/2007 9:24:55 PM
If the powers that be didn't change their course of action at the request of various committees, politicians and activist groups, what makes you think a group of chanting (what they perceive to be) "tree hugging hippies" protesting is going to do any good? Isn't the public opinion of the war already low? Are you really telling them anything new?]
1/16/2007 9:28:01 PM
1500 emo kids on somebody's lawn is not an effective protest
1/16/2007 9:38:15 PM
1/16/2007 9:39:01 PM
its not like it worked for vietnam or anything. even the recent appeal for redress is just like vietnam.
1/16/2007 9:39:03 PM
the only thing that ever creates change is college students chanting rhyming slogans.
1/16/2007 10:17:08 PM
HELL NO WE WON'T GOHELL NO WE WON'T GOHELL NO WE WON'T GO
1/16/2007 10:47:24 PM
1/16/2007 11:15:36 PM
if the irrational jibber jabber is done with that must mean it's time to start pitying some fools!
1/16/2007 11:44:19 PM
1/16/2007 11:53:54 PM
You mean protestors like the ones in this picture? What's so absurd or strawman about the Civil War, WWII, or winning the Cold War? I think it says a lot more about your politics than it does about the actual facts of the wars that have been fought and why.
1/17/2007 12:00:19 AM
I think all the hippie peacenik people should be contained in one area. I suggest someplace in Iraq where they manufacture lots of rope.
1/17/2007 12:16:17 AM
Again with the asphyxiation fetish.
1/17/2007 12:18:38 AM
there go the hippie protestors again, buying up posterboard from Office Depot and shelling out money for magic markers to that huge corporation Crayola
1/17/2007 12:27:42 AM
those who oppose war are mostly communists. this is so true. hillary is one, so are the democrats, right? this is what i was referring to. war has done good, i dont deny that. the debate is whether this was a necessary war, and that argument will go on between all parties forever. who's putting words in whose mouth here?if you're one of these people, i feel sorry for you. you cant support the troops and oppose war, if you dont support invasion of iraq you support saddam, blah, blah, blah. i cant wait till these silly arguments die off.V who the hell is that directed at? [Edited on January 17, 2007 at 1:04 AM. Reason : .][Edited on January 17, 2007 at 1:06 AM. Reason : .]
1/17/2007 12:57:53 AM
WE'RE TOLERANT OF MUSLIMS, BUT NOT REDNECKS
1/17/2007 12:59:23 AM
I'm a regressive. I support mandatory killing of everyone. Then we will be free and equal.
1/17/2007 1:17:25 AM
Damn hippies.
1/17/2007 5:31:42 AM
I like these guys better:
1/17/2007 1:08:39 PM
they're really standing up for what they believe inalthough they're afraid of showing who they are
1/17/2007 1:10:16 PM
I'm an anarchist, baby!
1/17/2007 1:11:40 PM
they're afraid because they could suffer serious retribution for their beliefsthey could lose their jobssome could be incarceratedthe black bloc is an act of solidarity
1/17/2007 1:14:32 PM
^oh no they could lose their jobs working for the capitalist scum!you used to at least PREACH that people do what they believe in
1/17/2007 1:16:15 PM
no love for Against Me! ?
1/17/2007 1:17:06 PM
I might go.Not that I'm into the cause, I just enjoy protesting as a sport.
1/17/2007 1:19:41 PM
Against Me! is dead to me... they've abandoned their folk punk rootsI went to a Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains show last weekendand I go see any Riot Folk! member that comes through townand TreeTwista again fails to recognize that I am not necessarily anti-capitalist
1/17/2007 1:20:04 PM
my point is that, if you really believe in something, who cares about possibly losing your job or getting arrested? anyone serious about protesting like this wouldnt care about those possibilities...now for people who just do it because it seems cool, they probably would care
1/17/2007 1:22:54 PM
wowyou've definitively proven that protesters don't actually care about any issue
1/17/2007 1:24:46 PM
no i've just pointed out that you're not really for the cause
1/17/2007 1:25:26 PM
