is it any good?
1/15/2007 10:52:28 PM
yes. the ls2 is a badass motor.
1/15/2007 10:55:53 PM
except it weighs 9 tons
1/15/2007 10:59:39 PM
not too bad for what it is, but still a little porky. it's comparable to other modern day muscle cars. iirc the new ones are around 3700lbs. plenty of horsepower to move it also, times are respectable at high 12's/13 flat in the 1/4.[Edited on January 15, 2007 at 11:06 PM. Reason : .]
1/15/2007 11:04:08 PM

1/16/2007 8:38:35 PM

1/17/2007 6:41:37 PM

1/17/2007 8:09:36 PM
http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/pontiac_g8.aspDamn, LOVE those wheels. Gorgeous aggressive exterior, and beautiful interior. Only problem is, in Australia, the same car produces over 400 hp, so why 360 in the US? Also very heavy, at 4,000 lbs.6 litre V8362 hp391 lb-ft3,995 lbsPontiac G8 GTHere is the Aussie Holden HSV E-Series GTS that it is based on. (411 hp, 406 lb-ft)Actually, sorry, the GTS above is tuned by HSV, the performance division of Holden. The regular one is below (Holden Commodore SS V), which is exactly like the Pontiac G8, and has the same power specs:

I actually think I like the G8 better than the Holden version; the Holden nose is too bland. Sharp car overall though, and I think it will sell well. Hopefully it will pave the way for Ford's corporate leadership to give us a version of the Aussie Falcon...
2/20/2007 7:18:57 PM
the g8 gt looks like it may be the first modern pontiac that i actually have interest in owning
2/20/2007 8:16:48 PM
weird trunkline, but it's definitely the best Pontiac I've seen in a LOOOONG TIME. Very well designed on the exterior, and still faithful to the brand.and for once I agree with OEPII1, those wheels are SICK
2/23/2007 3:51:20 AM
what ever happened to the return of the GNX?
2/23/2007 10:13:40 AM
It looks like an evo....until they show pictures of the inside
2/23/2007 6:06:51 PM
^ hi
2/23/2007 6:51:43 PM
^oh come on, you can do better than that.
2/23/2007 6:53:58 PM
lol i was just saying hello....Damn!
2/23/2007 6:55:08 PM
how about a gto conv.?
2/23/2007 9:46:45 PM
don't worry, jeremy clarkson will find a reason why the g8 gt is worse than the holden (and any other non-american company that gets a version)
2/23/2007 10:05:21 PM
gto's are nice, only wish they'd slim the bitch down a bit like down to 3400...
2/23/2007 10:06:50 PM
Apparently Pontiac is getting a car from the Zeta platform that will be in the same bracket as Camaro. Think they should go for the GTO name, or the old standard Firebird? I prefer the screaming chicken myself.
2/23/2007 10:07:18 PM
as long as they dont make it look as god awful ugly as the last firebird by tacking on plastic shit everywhere
2/23/2007 10:09:18 PM
^^^^true. iirc, he gave a nice review of the gto when it first came back though.
2/23/2007 11:16:33 PM
and the Australian version is awesome.
2/23/2007 11:46:59 PM
The pontiac grille is so ugly.
2/24/2007 1:26:11 AM
what about a holden conversion on current gto?
2/24/2007 10:19:22 AM
yea, it does look like an evo from the outside.
2/24/2007 10:52:25 AM
^^lol, that'd be so "adm"...
2/24/2007 1:04:49 PM
haha yea. I wish they just sold it as a Holden over here to start with.
2/24/2007 5:36:04 PM
yeah. aussies gets some cool ass vehicles all around.
2/24/2007 5:49:20 PM
2/24/2007 7:08:46 PM

Pontiac G8 GXP To Debut At New York Auto ShowLS3 6.2 litre V86-speed MANUAL402 hp402 lb-ft0-60 mph in 4.7 sec1/4 mile in 13 secNot bad, but the G8 GT (see grey car above) comes with 362 hp and 391 lb-ft.I think this G8 GXP should have been tuned to produce around 450 hp, otherwise the 2 models are pretty close to each other in performance and power.
3/16/2008 6:18:03 AM
You know what would be awesome? if someone posted pictures of GTOs in this thread. Or more importantly if someone would stop posting non GTO pictures in this thread.
3/16/2008 1:08:00 PM
even though this post was 13 months ago im still going to call you a fucking retard
3/16/2008 5:29:39 PM
^^^i want that with the G8's wheels.[Edited on March 16, 2008 at 5:37 PM. Reason : d]
3/16/2008 5:36:55 PM
i think i should be in charge of the weight reduction part of these car manufacturers.i mean 4000 #. i can get it down to 2100#. and it will run 10s in the 1/4
3/16/2008 11:12:43 PM
Are they still making the GTO? I thought they had stopped? If they have stopped.. are there plans to continue it?
3/16/2008 11:59:50 PM
need to get some engineers from the motorcycling world into the automobile world since motorcycles are gaining more power and losing weight while cars are just gaining more power and weight. Dammit Ducati, stop hogging all of the good product engineers!
3/17/2008 1:39:39 AM
So they're actually making the car/truck version? Srsly? Wow. That's actually kinda ballsy.

5/13/2008 8:22:37 AM
As I have stated in a previous thread, the G8 is my next purchase. Love everything about the car, minus the seating position, but I will have to work on that.Figuring black on black, with the 19" rims, premium and sport package. Going to have them add the magnaflow exhaust to it and some tint.http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=AMML&id=4274#
