I have a dilema. I am getting married in October and have 2 friends, good friends, who I have to choose between for a best man.One guy I have known for close to 14 years and we've been great friends the entire time without one single fight, disagreement, argument whatsoever...But on the other hand, a good buddy of mine from High School and College, who we got closer by me moving back to Hickory a few years ago, knows me inside and out and is very well spoken and would be a great best man. Ive seen him do it before. The only fallback there is that since he's gotten married a year ago he's changed a lot. We still hang out all the time, but the inseperable buddy thing isnt there anymore...I just don't know how to decide, they are both great friends and would do anything for me, I just dont want to let anyone down...SURVEY SAYS????

1st guyat least the 2nd guy has already done it, so it's not a huge let down, you know?

is your dad not an option?
1/15/2007 2:35:34 PM
1st guy2nd guy can be the maid of honoraha jkyou could make one guy best man and give the other guy some sort of other 'important duty'
1/15/2007 2:36:24 PM

1/15/2007 2:39:59 PM

a good friend of mine had two. I was one. We had been friends since 6th grade but I came out here to go to school and we hadn't seen each other hardly at all, even though we kept in touch. The other was a good friend he met while in college.

Your dad for best man, the others are groomsmen. Problem solved.BTW, that's how a lot of southers weddings are IIRC.
1/15/2007 2:43:29 PM
I just had to look up what IIRC means
1/15/2007 2:49:40 PM
father as the bestmanunless you have daddy issues or something
1/15/2007 2:50:09 PM
1/15/2007 2:56:43 PM
Oh I dunno, maybe some people are close to their fathers?
1/15/2007 2:57:40 PM
The bestman doesnt have to throw the bachelor party. Dad-> bestman is very common.
1/15/2007 2:58:22 PM
Huh, I guess it's a Southern thing.
1/15/2007 2:58:57 PM
thats exactly what it is.if you ever go to a wedding north of the M-D line, you'll never see a dude have his dad be the best mani'm not looking forward to having to decide. i have narrowed it down to 4, but 3 of them are neck-and-neck
1/15/2007 3:03:39 PM
dad was best mannothing wrong with it
1/15/2007 3:07:28 PM
does it really matter? if either of them feel slighted by not being the best man then they're pretty fucking selfish. pick whichever one is going to throw the better batchelor party...
1/15/2007 3:07:35 PM
best man /= bachelor party planner
1/15/2007 3:08:10 PM
Something is wrong if you have 3-4 possible best friends. I don't care who you are, at most you should have like 2 buddies that you would go to the grave for.
1/15/2007 3:11:29 PM
^^the bachelor party is the primary duty of the best man. where are you from?[Edited on January 15, 2007 at 3:18 PM. Reason : .]

pick your dad or your brotheror have two
1/15/2007 3:18:38 PM
You are allowed to have two
1/15/2007 3:21:21 PM
Guys don't care. As long as you're not passing over your brother for the best man role, then it won't be a big deal.
1/15/2007 3:21:38 PM
my best man is planning my b. party.
1/15/2007 3:21:55 PM
^^and the b. party is not the primary duty of the best man. it's a duty, but first and foremost he's there to assist the groom or the wedding as much as possible, sign the certificate, drive the car to mexico, etc.[Edited on January 15, 2007 at 3:25 PM. Reason : ]

Just because it's on the intarnets doesn't make it universaly true. In all southern weddings I've been to, the dad or brother of the groom was the best man. And we don't do batchelor parties in the south anyways, strippers and excessive drunkeness are generally frowned upon in the Bible belt.
1/15/2007 3:34:03 PM
take this as a sign to cut and run. Don't get married.
1/15/2007 3:35:50 PM
Well let's replace the term "Southern" with "Baptist", and I'd see where you're coming from.[Edited on January 15, 2007 at 3:36 PM. Reason : s]

when my buddy got married he referred to both his brother and me as the best man. of course, his brother stood closest to him at the wedding. it worked out fine.we were also the only two groomsmen and the party planning was done by several of us.

my brother had my dad as best man, and me and his friend as groomsmen.unless your buddies get jealous easy, it shouldn't matter as long as they're both standing at the altar with you
