Hi Everyone,I am attaching a link to the website where you can adopt a soldier if you would like... write letters, send packages, etc. Since Bush is trying to extend their stay in Iraq, it would be great if they see that we support them, even if we don't necessarily support the war. Thankshttp://www.adoptaussoldier.org/

Pretty sure I would "adopt a child" before I adopted a US soldier.
1/14/2007 12:55:20 PM
Well that's up to you!
1/14/2007 12:58:27 PM
hmm... if we sent children to war, then we could kill two birds with one stone!
1/14/2007 4:52:03 PM
Somehow I think everyone is missing the point of this topic....

1/16/2007 9:07:22 PM
Thank you. I am so not asking much. Damnit.
1/16/2007 9:16:18 PM
speaking as a deployed soldier, its so nice to see that people care about us over here.
1/17/2007 4:49:09 AM
Nobody else begs for special ardor when doing their job.
1/17/2007 9:14:35 AM
^ what servicemen have you seen "begging"? i'd say most appreciate it, but certainly don't expect it.oh, and moving to Lounge.[Edited on January 17, 2007 at 10:36 AM. Reason : although, of course, how many other jobs entail as much hardship?]
1/17/2007 10:35:16 AM
adopt a us soldier. . . or write your congress person and tell them to vote for taxes that actually help to fully fund the war and its soldiers so that they can be adequately compensated for their hardships.
1/17/2007 10:40:55 AM
it would be funny if everyone sent return tickets to them so they can all abandon bush's madness and go home safely to their families.

i resent that Myrtle believes only republicans are the ones who would do this.i'm already supporting one. it's my brother-in-law.
1/17/2007 1:32:15 PM
^ yeah as if political party affiliation has anything to do with how much you support the troops.you could actually argue that the liberals currently in power care more about the troops than the republicans since they want to pull the troops out and prevent them from being killed.
1/17/2007 1:40:46 PM
Last time I looked at my pay stub, I've adopted quite a few soldiers.
1/17/2007 2:00:43 PM
i support our troops but not supporting the war. if there was no war they wouldn't be over there getting blown up by a bunch of sand monkeys

How about adopting a former US Soldier?
1/17/2007 4:20:21 PM
see ^^
1/17/2007 4:32:02 PM
If anything you should hope some Democrats adopt the troops since they aren't trying to horde all the nation's money. They might actually send a care package or some body armor.

1/17/2007 5:06:14 PM
^^WTF are you talking about?I surely hope you aren't saying that conservatives hoard money. They are actually more giving at all income levels than their liberal counterparts.

I did this in second grade for the original war, I got lots of thank you letters. My uncle tells me he got a variety of stuff as an officer and still gets some.

Dear lord TWW... at it again. Stop turning this into a political comparison and take the opportunities to find out some ways you can help our soliders or don't. It's completely up to you, but stop turning one person's compassion into your verbal battlefield. Just my two cents.ENDFlute and synapse, thanks for posting these good links. Definitely looking into this stuff!

my buddy in Iraq was complaining the other day about all the q-tips and toothbrushes they get in care packages. what these guys really want is booze and porn. just label the package "juice" and it will get over there fine.
